Okay so alot of you are just spewing shit from your mouths and not helping.

I want to know what I need to do to avoid getting this put on a record and avoid higher insurance.

I'll pay the fucking ticket, 91 dollars isn't shit.

Going from $150 for my cars on insurance to $400 a month IS.

Get a lawyer. That's about the only surefire way. Going into court and trying to do it yourself is asking for trouble.

Pay the extra 300$ now and get a lawyer or else pay 300 a month potentially.

I almost never speed, I don't do anything against the law.

If you were in my situation, which you probably never will be since you're a useless pile of shit that calls itself a human being, you would think the situation is total bullshit too.

I'm sorry your mom never loved you and that your wife won't fuck you anymore but thats no reason to let out your aggression on other people. Just find a dark room and go cut yourself.

As for anyone else thats been helpful, thanks alot, I appreciate it.

If this is your first ticket, often times a judge will give you a ticket w/ supervision. It stays off your record if you stay good for 90 days w/o any more traffic violations. The other option, opt for traffic school. You pay a higher ticket (like 120-150) and you take an 8 hour class. After that, ticket goes off your record if you behave for 90 days.

I have four cars Tuggan.

Spazz, I never once I said I wasn't guilty of doing it, but I really don't think going 10mph too fast is worthy of $250 more out of my pocket each month.

Is Traffic School not an option? You still have to pay the ticket, then pay for traffic school, but it means that they don't report it to your insurance company. If you haven't had a ticket in the last couple years, you SHOULD be eligible.

If the cop does show up, you may well be SOL. The kind of situation you were in is a well-known speed trap situation. Some cities do it deliberately, lower the speed limit through their area by 10mph, and have the cops hide right where it changes, to nail people who don't slow down right away. I myself have been nailed by that, actually. The spot I got nailed, I found out later, is infamous for that happening, and literally dozens of people have filed protests about it, all to no avail.

Well this is my first ticket and its still sitting in my glove box, what option should I choose? Contested Hearing? Or just send them a letter saying I'll pay it and do traffic school?

Traffic school is the best way to go. Once you attend and get sign off on it, they will wipe the ticket off your driving record. In California you can go to traffic school twice every 4 years. The first time you go one saturday for 8 hrs. The second time you go 2 saturdays.

The cost is ticket + school fee + paper work fee (some city charge this .. others don't). The cost to attend traffic school the second time is 3 or 4 times the first time.

Wait until they send you the notice for the ticket in the mail. They usually list the options you can take on it.

I'm really glad I'm not in my step brother's shoes.

He got caught going 105 in a 60 down in Arizona.

100 hours of Community Service plus a $500+ ticket.

No points
No insurance hikes
No driving school

I learned that from a ticket attorney when I was like 17. Im 35 now with quite a few more tickets under my belt. Never once had a point on my license or had to go to driving school. And as far as my insurance company can tell, I am squeeky clean.

Tickets? Here in Malaysia I simply ask the cops if they'd like to go have a cup of coffee (meaning do they want to settle it with a bribe). I pay them about $13, and I'm off! The ticket would cost 6 times the amount. Shit, my license expired more than two years ago. I've been pulled over several times since. Cops here will pull me over simply because I'm white, and they know white people are easy targets. I don't actually have to do anything wrong on the road to get pulled over.

....You mean in Malaysia you can't run through red lights??? !!!!

it means take it to court and enter a plea of "no contest"

in my county in FL, it is an almost guaranteed way out of getting points on your license or sent to driving school. it is exactly what the ticket attorneys do for you on minor traffic stuff.

you save the court the expense of a trial and they offer you a reduced penalty. every single time i have done this the judge withholds adjudication [which means there is no public record of the offense, so no worries with your insurance co] and assigns court costs less than the amount of the ticket.

again, i can only speak from experience in my area, but i would be surprised if it werent the same in any large city.

In Michigan, Obstruction of Traffic is a plead out that can be used if you have a speeding ticket. If you havent had one before and have a clean record you can plead it out with the judge.

With most courts when court opens be there, even if your not supposed to appear till like noon. Show up before court starts and usally the balif or whomever is presiding with the judge will walk in and say the names of everyone thats supposed to appear. He will then ask if you want to accept responsability and plead down.

At that point you can ask what pleading down entails, Usally its obstruction etc. It may even cost more then your ticket but its no points. None. And the obstruction dosent stay on your file past three months.

I used obstruction of justice to get out of overage in a construction zone to avoid a large ticket and I paid like 125 in court fee's. But that was 5 points That didnt go on my record basically.

Hope that helps.
To all my freaks out there,

K, mailing it right now with the contested hearing box checked.

Not sure if I'm gonna do the Obstruction of Traffic or the No Contest thing but we'll see once I get a date and stuff.

lol points. You niggas is crazy.

Seriously, dont even try to argue this. You know you were speeding. Traffic school, as I said on the first page, is your best bet. You'll pay court and you'll go to school and it wont appear on your record.

yup they got me about 2 years ago on Easter no less. nailed me in a speed trap but the speedtrap was outside jurisdiction. Of course it was his word against mine.

Not that big of a deal. He got me for 110, I got him for a 250 repair bill when he came into the shop with some viruses...
