It has nothing to do with being a pussy toughguy. I have things to live for. Getting possibly dead or injured for life because some idiot's parents didnt love him enough isnt on my list of 'things to do with my life.'

That attitude is precisely why people are ignorantly loud in theaters. They are enabled by those who would rather "not bother" and they do it because there is no consequence or complaint. Personally, I don't give a fuck if the person being loud was Bill Goldberg. I'd turn around and tell him to shut the fuck up.

Sorry, but another person's job responsibilities should in no way affect my ability to enjoy a product I pay for without annoying interuptions.

I know it sounds harsh, but if you one of those people who have jobs that require 24/7 contactability - well - tough. Don't go to the movies, unless you're willing to give me the 15 dollars I paid for a ticket when your cell goes off and interupts my movie.

Okay, so you're saying that people who are on call 24/7, unless they take vacation time, shouldn't have a life other than work? There is a vibration feature on the majority of cell phones now. Blocking a signal is going too far.

I hope you remember that in the unlikely event your wife is going to give birth and they cannot reach your doctor because he's seeing some movie with his kid and he's got his cell turned off...

And before you answer with the usual trolling, remember that most women prefer the same doctor they have been seeing for the last 9 months to do the actual birthing process. Also, that was only one of many different circumstances for someone to have a cell on.

That's to bad. There are times I'm call and when I am I don't go out unless I have to.

I'm not saying they can't have a life. But, fuck them if they think that their job gives them lisence to annoy the shit out of me during something I PAID for.

Besides most of the problem isnt with that type of situation anyway - most of the problem is with idiots who make calls during, or take calls (social calls) during the fucking movie.

I'm sick of tired of appeasing every whinny little pussy with a gripe about this or that. Appeasment is the BIGGEST problem with the country. "Oh no they might block cell phones and I wont be able to be called into work during a movie.... oh my pussy hurts..." tough shit. check your messages after the movie, take a break during the movie - go out into the lobby and check - or just wait for the DVD.

there's a lot of shit that I dont like and cant do for whatever reason... but my life isn't coming to a tragic end because of it.

the sooner we as a country tell whiny pussies to just shut the fuck up and stop bending over backward for everyone with hurt feelings the better off we'll be.

and who the fuck is bill goldburg?

and another thing. those who are on call and blame it on the morons who make and take social calls during the movie.

if you think we should have to sit through 2 hours of beeps, rings and chatting during a movie that we pay for so just in case some nurse, EMT, or garbage man can be called into work every now and then.... isn't gonna fly.

i hope they block the cell phones. it IS a good idea.

and by the way - explain to me who they not being able to take a phone in the middle of movie is taking away their life? how are they "not having a life?" no one is saying they can't go to the movie, no one saying they can't have their phones on 24/7 if they want. we're just saying that for two hours don't expect to be able to take a call.

if you're working that kind of job it's reallllly not hard to tell you boss that you might be going to a movie that night.

Simple solution. Text messaging on vibrate. You can have your conversation, it vibrates, there's hardly any noise.

Blocking cell phones from theaters is simply people losing another right because others are stupid. You never know when there may be emergencys that occur and anyone of sound mind knows that when the phone rings and they need to answer it, they leave the theater room. Those assholes that use the phone during the movie need to be told to STFU and that's the only reasonable way to solve this problem.

Holy shit, do movies cost $15 in other parts of the country?

And I've seen 10ish movies in the last 3-4 months, and someone brought out a cell phone in just 1. :dunno:

Maybe people in Oklahoma have more respect.
Or maybe they're just ignorant rednecks without cellphones.
I guess we'll never know.

Only problem is how are you going to enforce it. If they had a way to ensure no phones would ring, or that people wouldn't talk on them - then i'd be all for that.

problem is there isn't a way to do that. as self-centered, selfish and egotistical as the typical american is, do you honestly that simply 'asking' them to turn the ringers off and not to talk during the movie would work?

Well, I'm sick of Dieken's dumbass comments on this topic. So, I'm going to say one thing to him. If YOU don't like to wonder if someone's cell is going to ring during your precious movie time, don't go.

Blocking a cell signal is inane at best. As several posters above have stated that there are things called "text messaging" and "vibrate" on cell phones. Some morons chose to ignore that and want to punish everyone for the very few incidents. Grow a penis and tell the inconsiderate cell phone user to turn it off or you'll talk to the manager.

Yeah I do. With most people it does. It's a polite request that is totally reasonable to the average thinking American. Everyone on this board for example is pretty much on the same page that cell phone use in a theater during a movie is annoying.

If someone is talking during a movie on their phone it's already an interruption. I say take it a step further, walk over to them, tell them to please respect the theater patrons by limiting the use of their phone. If they wanna be a douche bag about it, fine. Contact theater management. Tell them to address it. If they don't, you get your refund and free movie tix or refreshment tix. if everyone acted, as opposed to sitting there in silent annoyance, there'd be less of a problem. Honestly, I don't see a problem doing that, especially since I only run into that problem like one out of every ten times I go to movies. Whining and crying about it gets you nowhere if you don't act when someone is being disrespectful to you. Taking away people's right to keep a cell phone in a theater isn't solving any problem either, it's creating another one.

I like going to the theaters with bars and grills in it. And you get served in your seat. Noone uses a cell phone. Noone is rude and talks through the movie. Why? Because it is too expensive for the average trash to go to.

I still say that ushers should be brought back. Blocking is no good.
