Texas busting drunks ... in bars

WTF is going on in Texas these days? From Reuters:

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Reuters) -- Texas has begun sending undercover agents into bars to arrest drinkers for being drunk, a spokeswoman for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission said Wednesday.

The first sting operation was conducted recently in a Dallas suburb where agents infiltrated 36 bars and arrested 30 people for public intoxication, said the commission's Carolyn Beck.

Being in a bar does not exempt one from the state laws against public drunkenness, Beck said.

The goal, she said, was to detain drunks before they leave a bar and go do something dangerous like drive a car.

"We feel that the only way we're going to get at the drunk driving problem and the problem of people hurting each other while drunk is by crackdowns like this," she said.

"There are a lot of dangerous and stupid things people do when they're intoxicated, other than get behind the wheel of a car," Beck said. "People walk out into traffic and get run over, people jump off of balconies trying to reach a swimming pool and miss."

She said the sting operations would continue throughout the state.

Why go to a bar where you can potentially get arrested when you can buy a liquor at a liquor store for less money and just drink at your own house.

ESPECIALLY in Texas where you can fucking grill outside 365 days a year. Fuck that I'd never go to a bar if I lived in Texas.

Spazz is right. I said it before and I will say it again...Americans are hands down the dumbest civilized people in the world.

Half this country would probably agree to put a cop on every corner and outlaw damn near everything if they could get away with it, just so all the soccer mom's and their awful children could feel a little bit safer.

I think a lot of the pussification of America and the bullshit we now have to put up with stems from allowing women and minorities the ability to hold public office and vote.

We need to revoke those rights and get back to kicking ass and making money. The things that America used to excel at.

They bust you for public intoxication, which is still illegal.

You can't legally grill in TExas at the moment. There is a burn ban in most counties because it is so dry. THere was a huge rainstorm that caused flodding last week, so apparantly some counties have temporarily lifted the burn ban.
