Games are sooo much more fun when I can just blast everything in my way instantly, and I have unlimited ammo, and can play with one hand, and Im done in 4 hours.....

Why even bother to play if its not a challenge?

If a game isnt occasionally/constantly kicking my ass with hard encounters and challenging enemies, then its not a game worth my time. Never use cheats. Ever.

That sounds about right I have already beat it on the main quest line. It isnt big but all of the other quests combined is a good 100+ hours.

Once I manage thru the game I go back in cheat mode. There are some games however that I play for the storyline in and of itself. Cheating does not diminish this for me in anyway shape or form. It is just how I enjoy playing the game at that given time.

Is it me or is the levelling system in this game back-asswards? I dinged to 2nd level in a crypt (vilverin) and it became impossible. Bleh. Gonna have to figure this out.

What are your laptops specs, particularly your video? I thought I had it made on my laptop too, until I went outside.... then it went slideshow on me. That is thanks to my Thinkpad's X300 w/64mb vid RAM. I hear I need at least 128mb....

P4 3.0GHZ w/HT
1GB 400MHZ DDR ram
ATI Radeon Mobility 9700 128MB

I don't have the settings cranked up or anything but it's completely playable. I'd guess I get around 20FPS in the outdoors and 30 in dungeons.

Smooth as silk in the dungeon and when first leaving them...

and then I stole a horse and started running around and my frame rate dropped to like 5.

High settings.

What resolution are you running on?

The game set everything to Medium on install after its system test on mine and the only thing I moved up was the reso and it ate my machine =( (3.0 pent, 1gb RAM, 6600GT)

Runs really smooth on the lowest res. Do you really miss anything playing on lower?

Just picked it up last Friday, so far I'm very impressed with the game. I bumped up the settings above it's recomended, only time I notice anything annoying is with npc's when you talk to them, and when selling items, the mouse seems less responsive. Other then that beautiful graphics... and the AI seems to be very very well done.

I bumped it up to 1280x1024, but turned off the detail on distant objects

If I already had an HDTV, I think the 360 would be a good answer, but damn, just to play Oblivion on the 360 I would have to fork out $400-500 for the console, $60 for the game and then, what, $2k+ for the freaking HDTV? LOL, that's a lot for the love of one game. LOL.

Not to mention you'd then have to play with a controller like a noob.

So far the only real limitation of the controller is having to use the d-pad for hotkeys, the numpad on a keyboard is much more convenient. Playing it on the 360 and loving it. My buddy is playing it on his dual core, 2 gig ram, 6800 machine at just over mid level settings and I think it looks much better on the 360.

Playing a nightblade at the moment, it’s kind of easy. I just sneak up and crit strike a mob then frost shock them and they are dead. Not sure how I will fare in the arena though, can you sneak successfully in there or are the mobs aware of you as soon as the match starts?

Des how many hours did it take you to beat the main quest? Did you race through it or take your time doing side quests?
