if you're going to quote a scientist at least don't quote a fucking make-believe scientist

now will you answer the question. who should let the nice geneticist know what he can and can't research? you because you watched jurassic park a couple times, or how about big bird?

So where exactly did the scientists get their data pre-1850s? Because it wasn't being recorded. You can postulate with theories abound, but the cold hard facts that make science, science, aren't in depth enough to do anything more than speculate.

Look up the State of Fear thread or some of Michael Crichtons lectures.

Do the toxins we introduce into the atmosphere, ground and water have an effect on our planet? Of course. Is global warming really a threat? Jury's still out on that one. But, as long as it makes you feel important, whatever.

You moron. The quote itself is the point not who said it (which was actually Michael Crichton). Science is more concerned with whether they CAN than whether they SHOULD. It's about ethics, which some people (you included) seem to think doesn't apply to science.

Science is a tool, not an altar to worship at.
