Kidnapped U.S. reporter Jill Carroll has been released after nearly three months in captivity, Iraq police and the leader of the Islamic Party said Thursday. She was reported in good condition.
Carroll, a freelance reporter for The Christian Science Monitor, was kidnapped on Jan. 7, in Baghdad's western Adil neighborhood while going to interview Sunni Arab politician Adnan al-Dulaimi. Her translator was killed in the attack about 300 yards from al-Dulaimi's office.

"She was released this morning, she's talked to her father and she's fine," said David Cook, Washington bureau chief of The Christian Science Monitor.

Police Lt. Col. Falah al-Mohammedawi said was handed over to the Iraqi Islamic Party office in Amiriya, western Baghdad, by an unknown group. She was later turned over to the Americans and was believed to be in the heavily fortified Green Zone, he said.

One could go to Iraq, rent a room in some area not heavily patrolled by US Forces, and pretend to be kidnapped for months.

Then, suddenly reappear and claim you were released and wait for the multi million dollar book deals to come rolling in.

Maybe Ouchyfish could be the 'translator'?

Suffice to say I'm happy about this outcome. Those of you who did put your faith in there with me, and you know who you are, thanks. Oh and Jay you can find what you're looking for on the old board.

Right, it was the prayer that got her released.

A current article on the subject. Prayer didnt work in this study, it even hurt a bit :

"NEW YORK (AP) -- In the largest study of its kind, researchers found that having people pray for heart bypass surgery patients had no effect on their recovery. In fact, patients who knew they were being prayed for had a slightly higher rate of complications."

Well Mofish I only know what works for me. You could present me with a study that declares ingesting ground up Barbie dolls cures the common cold. I won't be grindin up any Barbie dolls soon, although I might be grindin some babydolls ^,~

I told you before God doesn't 'hate'. I worked for a very long time in a CP ward at an institution in Mass. Before I went there I don't think I even knew there was a God. I'll spare you the details suffice to say if there was no God, these folks would never get their asses wiped for $4.35 an hour. They'd never see the inside of a movie theater, a Harvard square bar or vacation on San Juan.

It's easy to say prayer has no effect, it's harder to have faith that it does...it's your choice bud. I don't want to make this thread another canidate for R&F so lets drop this debate. Jill Carrol is freed, and noone really knows why. It's a good thing.

Its harder to have faith that praer/faith healing works because its a myth supported by irrational belief that has no evidence at all to support it.

All you have to do is provide evidence of one limb growing back. Ever. And Ill start to listen.

And that is the eternal debate Mofish. Bottom line, noone has proof, you either have faith, or you don't. I do know however that you don't need limbs to have faith.

And that's the beauty of it. It means whatever you want it to mean, if you have it, faith that is. If you don't have it, you know you don't. If, like our friend Mofish here, you question it, you're well on your way. There's a reason it's been around for so long, faith that is. Give it a go, can't hurt ya.

Edit! Thats alot of ifs...I know, I know all too well.

"Faith" always seems to be such a good thing, as long as people have faith in the same thing as you.

Prayer is the cheap person's answer. It costs nothing to do and only helps the person praying by giving them a false sense of accomplishment. It does nothing for the person being prayed for. Prayer is also a fail-proof answer. If you pray for someone's release and they get released your prayer was a success. If they don;t get released then not enough people prayed for it to happen and you are not at fault.

Of coarse, it is only my opinion that prayer is a waste of time. I have no proof to confirm or deny the above statement.

I prayed to Allah every night for Jill's death.

Proof that ALLAH DOES NOT EXIST and Jill is still a stupid bitch.

heheheheh, nobody does. And just so you know, I never prayed for effect, I prayed for resolve. Everybody dies, countries fall to ruins this world will end...I don't pray effect, I pray for resolve, I bet you don't get that do you?

"Prayer is the cheap person's answer"....and what is the rich persons answer?
