Bush

Postby Drem » Thu Apr 06, 2006 8:42 pm

Did anybody just get giddy when a small man came out of the blue in court and laid down documents that said Bush and the VP authorised the leaks? I don't think he can talk his way out of this one, like everything else he fails at.

No, intelligence leaks from what is supposed to be "eyes-only" information to the president, among other leaks, like, for example, Valerie Plame's identity as a CIA agent.

We're all fuckin' sold out as a country regardless of which political party is in office. The sooner all of you realize this the sooner we can all get back to not giving a flying fuck.

I assume you mean in the Scooter Libby case. The documents did not say that Bush and the VP authorized the links... although some were so giddy at the prospect that one could easily believe this was in fact the case. What they did say is that Chenney pointed out the damage a leak could do to Bush's critic.

Recall also that when this first started, there was a lot of speculation on the strenght of a case against anyone regarding violation of the Espionage Act. Currently even Libby is not charged with anything regarding the leak its self, but with lying and an attempt to conceal evidence. This is presumably because the charges would be weak at best. So if it does in fact come to light in the future that Bush or Chenney did authorize the leak, in all likelyhood the worst they will suffer is political repricusions, not legal ones.

Ironic the similarity between this and the Clinton ordeal. In an attempt to cover an embarassment, they land themselves in legal trouble, not for thier actions, but thier lack of honesty and cooperation in revealing those actions. Far be it for me to defend the former president, but at least in his case the actions that started the chain of events were at least in his case of a personal nature, not a political one. In light of this, at least in the Libby case our courts are dealing with charges of lies and attempts to conceal truth surrounding something that is at least closer to the realm of national concern, and not something akin to soap opera entertainment.

The article explains his defense, I did a quick look at is, as I'm about to head out the door this morning, if I missed where the article specifically states that the documents state Bush or Chenney authorized the leaks, let me know, but from my brief scan of it, it's more of the same. Libby's defense is that this is the case, these documents however do not conclusively prove this.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12187153/

There was no indication in the filing that either Bush or Cheney authorized Libby to disclose Valerie Plame’s CIA identity. But it points to Cheney as one of the originators of the idea that Plame could be used to discredit her husband, Bush administration critic Joseph Wilson.

rofl, the president can't leak classified info because he's the president. it's not a "leak" because of an executive order he signed himself

don't the republicans piss you right wingers off to all hell too?

Seeing as how this administration is probably one of-if not the most-financially corrupt administrations, it doesn't surprise me at all that this could be true.

Yeah, I can't even get myself to care anymore.

He routinely lies to the American people on public TV - and he does it ineptly. It's gotten to the point that anything he says about his actions can't be taken seriously at all.

It's a defense tactic, if it works and it probably will. Everyone goes home scratchin thier heads. This ain't no blowjob in the oval office. It's just a dick up the ass of the American people, we're used to that. And it can be made to be completely legal. Much ado about nothing.

Hey, just calling a spade a spade and keeping things in perspective. You know Bush was given inaccurate data about WMD's, so I don't buy the whole "we-went-to-war-under-false-pretenses" and "W lied to us!!!!" bullcrap. Many of you leftists sound like broken records... you continuously come across as shoeshine boys for wackos like George Soros, Michael Moore, and the "Move-on.org" crew. / Y A W N Your sheepishness is very dull.

Like I said... I'm just keeping things in perspective. I know most of you are lefties, and that's fine. I'm going to offer up my opinions just as you guys have.

This war is about American global dominance and oil. Plain and simple. American imperialism is key to our wealth as a nation and is supported by both the dems and reps.

all of you dumb fuckers better just get used to the idea.

PS Bush and Clinton and Kerry are all fucking retards. This country hasn't had a good prez in decades.

The thing with Bush is not that he lies - it's that he does it incredibly ineptly - and it has become routine - AND he does it to such a frequent degree that it's stupifying. It's gotten to the point where not a single word out of his mouth can be trusted at all.
