I hate Wisps. (In Oblivion)

Post by Lyion »

Killing wisps in a dungeon sucks ass. I don't mind strafing and running, but the buggers are a pain in the ass.

if you need a weapon that can hit them, join the mages guild and enchant a shitty 5 gold enchant on any weapon. then it'll be flagged magic and can hit those fuckers, even when out of charges

I have a magic weap, they're just really tough for me to kill.

My strat now consists of semi kiting them, to escape their lifedrain. However, they're a pain in the ass, and fighting them in dungeons is just the major suck for me.

Its near impossible for me to sneak up and surprise attack them. I can't go toe to toe. And they seem to have a lot of HPs, and that uber drain that is the biggest problem.

There are some other mobs that are tough, but these guys are my current bane.

I have a Shadekiller Class (Assasin with Lightarmour, alteration, Illusion, sneak, security, blade, Marksman) with the changing out of acrobatics for illusion I now have a 60 second invinisbility spell that works wonders on wisps. Another thing is if you have a command spell(not sure this works in IV but it did in III) cast command, have wisp attack another wisp and go invis with a bucket of popcorn.

If you have conjuration summon you highest pet and send him in after the wisp, then go invis to wait it out.

BTW I finished up the Dark Brotherhood line last night. Worth doing if your a thief class. the Armour you get is nice and will take you a while to find better.

Also the choice of becoming a vampire comes out. worth doing for the stat boost, just becareful to feed before doing fast travel to some place. You might be a pile of ash by the time you get there if the sun comes out.

I did add one mod that was worth having, that is the human blood bottles. If you are a vampire you can purchase bottles of human blood from seedier types. This allows you to fast travel since you drink the blood if you start taking too much light damage.

Everything scales in level with you.

There are several wisps North of Bruma, fighting in the upper teens. I'm not sure if the wisps scale or are at a certain level. A tad below 20 doing the Serpent Trail Quest from Bruma, the Wisps are the current biggest challenge for me there.

ok Lyion easiest way to kill these bastards is this..goto the university and get a copy of ghost walk.

get your self a nice size firebolt spell. I would reccomend making one with a decent firebolt(no duration) and a minimal duration silence spell thrown into the mix.

dont max this spell out of all your mana...you will need some left over to cast invis.

Find your wisp...throw bolt and keep tossing them till he gets close, then hotkey to your invis and poof away. step back a distance (sneak if you can otherwise mr wisp might hear you) cast another chain of firebolts at him. rinse repeat.
