War Images

Postby Adivina » Wed Apr 12, 2006 6:05 am

Let me begin this topic by stating that this post is not meant to start any discussions or debates. Everything we see on the news is so negative, from child abuse to murders, what we see is the dregs of humanity. This thread is just meant to show some positive images for a change. I hope at least one of the images below brings a smile to your face. Just take it for what its worth. Also the images are saved on someone's angelfire account, so I am not sure how long it will be up. (One of the pictures has already been randomly changed, so if pictures seem off from their quotes, its not my hosting.)

Its amazing how different Iraq is from what's portrayed in the media. I guess its better to trust people who do not buy Al Jazeera phots and write stories from inside the green zone.

I see it both ways. While the media shows the worst of whats happening, sites like this show the best. Reality is probably somewhere in between. Its actually what I would expect to see. The media as always is showing the worst it can find. The more negative the story, the better the ratings. Sites like these portray a happy mood, more of what I would expect from them.

The situation over their is far better then what is portrayed by the media, however I am sure its not wonderful either.

I know its stupid but the biggest smile I got was the picture of the soldier petting the kitten. I think its just because of the contrast, this tiny fragile peice of life and a man with a weapon in full combat gear stopping to admire it.

Yeah I can show you some different images from iraq.

But I doubt the soliders are posing for the above images so they are all from the same place.

Why not get it from the source, instead of what someone wants you to see?

BTW the image with the Michael Jackson comment is fake. There's a website out there where you can put anything you want to on that sign he's holding.

I was just gonna say this.
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.

The problem is this, Gidan... the media isn't showing us the worst. They're taking a bad story and blowing up 10 times more than what it really was - or in some cases out right lying about it.

The little girl with the beanie baby touched me the most. She looks like any girl that we would see outside our windows at home playing with other kids. Unappreciative kids that have those stuffed animals and toys and grow tired of them, leave them in the street and want something newer and better.

I guarantee when that girl turns 60 she'll still have that beanie baby.

amen man\
and she will most likely have a story to go with it when she passes it to her daughter or son. "When I was 5 a soldier gave me this..."

The original was a sign in Arabic, saying something Pro American that I can't recall.

I figure the sign hack did not come from that one. However, I have kbnown my share of soldiers that would have done that.

Two thirds of those pics are so generic they could be anything...

"Soldier teaching kid how to tie his shoes to avoid tripping over landmine" awww, how sweet
could really be
"random kid in the neighborhood bugging dude dressed up in soldier outfit"
could really be
"soldier asking child pimp how much for 1 hour with his sister."

but it's on a 'soldiers, upload your pics here' website, so obviously... it's for realz. The intraweb is legit.

:ugh:

Check the Yon site out, as he took the pictures himself.

Not that it would matter to a bitter, communist, heathen, hedonistic, liberal like yourself, Vonk. :cool6:
