I heard this story on the radio this morning. They were saying that workers would drill extra holes in the metal because the already existing holes wouldn't line up properly.

You could re-drill 500 more holes in a 737 and it would still fly better than almost all other airliners out there.

Just for the record, my father has been an airline Inspector for well over 20 years and has been in the airline maintenance field for longer than I've been alive. Those claims made by the 3 whistle-blowers are utter bullshit.

Labbats is probably the only other person with any first hand experience with them, but if you ever saw what an FAA inspection entailed, you'd laugh at this article without a second thought.

I have also worked aircraft maintenance on heavies for the last 15 years. Drilling a couple extra holes into a part wouldn't be an issue for the integrity of the larger parts. Only the smaller parts would be an issue. However, smaller parts aren't generally used for structural purposes.
