The Dark Brotherhood was really fun. You can't be in the Thieves guild and the DB simultaneously though because one of the tenets of the TG is that you murder no one. The storyline for the Dark Brotherhood is great. It was a blast doing that and the main quest at the same time.

I joined the thieves guild and the Dark Brotherhood at the same time. What you need to do is not get caught killing someone I guess.

You really should do them at the same time... I loved it that way. Like, I'd be sent to kill someone... I'd kill them and then I'd rob all their shit. Two birds with one big scary enchanted elven blade.

Did you guys keep your blade of woe? The blade that Lucien gives you when you first joined the Brotherhood?

If you still have it at the end of the Dark Brotherhood quest line, it becomes quite a bit more powerful.

You can't get rid of it... it's a quest item.

Question for your nerds out there.

I haven't really done any enchanting in Oblivion yet but is it similar too Morrowind?

I noticed that I had an item that recharged magic items, but in Morrowind your items would recharge themselves over time. Is this NOT the case in Oblivion. Also, this game is cool.

ok Zan here goes,

1. Recharging items is done by using soul stones as 'batteries' You will want a small soul trap spell. I would reccomend if you are not a mage, buying one from edgars discount spells(i think he has one) cast this and pray you kill him before the spell fades. that will dump his power into a soul gem for recharge abilities. Un easy way to do this if you are in the mage guild is to add it to a enchanted weapon. That way it always procs.

2. Enchanting in this game is similar however you can have only one stat per regualr armour, which sucks major. There is a mod to allow for more morrwind type enchanting allowing more than one enchantment per item. I frankly do not think it over powers the game using it because you still cant cram all the shit you get from say, the dark brotherhood armour.

So you don't need soul gems to enchant items anymore? Just to recharge them?

Also, is the soul gem expended when you use it?

you need them for enchanting as well, however, recharging just depeletes them
you can recharge them easily enough
Enchanting destroys the soul gem for good.

Interesting.

The thing I hated about enchanted items in Morrowind was that you couldn't turn it on and off, so the 1st shmoe goblin you see would waste all your charges. Basicly needed a quiver full of swords that scaled up depending on what you were fighting.
Seems it's gonna be the same in this game too.

its not as bad, I added soultrap to all my weapons when i enchanted them, that way I still get about 20-30 attacks before discharge but still can open inventory real quick and stick another soul stone on the blade, soon as the mob I am fighting buys it that soul stone is recharged and back in my inventory.

I was out picking some weeds for alchemy and that fucking attack horse from the dark brotherhood ran off to kill something for me

it hasn't come back yet!

how long does that asshole take to make it to where I am? it doesn't seem to warp the way your normal horse does when you fast travel

sounds like the horse ran into some ogres and got killed. since it should fast travel with you :dunno:

it's pretty annoying hunting down soul gems from the various vendors, so i'd suggest doing the Azura's shrine quest. gives you a reusable grand soul gem.

Tik there is a mod to summon horse. I had to actuyally implement this for the same reason. The fucking thing took off and never came back. You use the mob and you can summon Steed. also it gives you saddle bags to put things in.

Some? Dang man, you NEED to at least play with an item mod... In your 20s, the game is freaking lame when all the bandits are running at you in full daedric armor... It totally ruins the fun of the game when you are dropping the best items in the game because you already have more cash than you could ever spend, and you can't possibly improve your armor... I don't remember the name of the item mod I'm using but it has been great so far.

I also use these... mainly to make the game even more lifelike...

No more psychic guards -guards 'sensing' that you killed someone and bum rushing into the house...
Bedroll - portable bedroll so I can sleep when and where I please... the way I figure it, if I can SIT for 24 hours, it's safe enough to SLEEP for 4. I hated when I was on floor 2 of a 4 floor dungeon and I level up... great... go back out, find a bed, or keep going?
Modified Hide Rules - not the name of it... but it's a GREAT hide modification... a lot of people complained that there's NO freaking way that the monster should automatically track to you, no matter how well hidden you were... this allows 'some' freedom to stay hidden, or at least go and hide again after you've attacked. I love it.
shorter grass - slightly reduces the huge grass in the game... it was totally lagging my system out.

I have a few others but those are my favorites.

It makes the game SO much more interesting... As it is, the game felt like I was 'twinked' in my 20s... like... okay wow, my gear is fucking godly all of the sudden... Thanks. And then I'd open boss chests in 3-4 floor dungeons and I'd think, "wow... the random highwayman 3 hours ago dropped 2 of those..." Thanks.

those are good ones... I'm going to try that.

The psychic guards shit always pisses me off.. If I lead some smarmy mouthed shopkeeper up into their bedroom and then wax them the guards shouldn't come running.
