Oblivion Install

Post by Jazendar »

I bought the game as stated before, but when I put in the disk it doesn't even read shit...I've gone to start run D drive etc, nothing comes up. Is it possible they put a XBoX disk in the PC box? Is there something I should know? I Feel like a 12 year old trying to open a box of crayons.

When I put a normal CD in, it pops up as the Edrive, which it should. Oblivion does nothing. :(

You bought the DVD version and are trying to play it in a CD drive?

that is weird. Something sounds defective.

Obvious question here. But are you trying to put a DVD-ROM into a CD-ROM drive?

You might be trying to put a DVD in a CD drive. That's what I think about it anyways, not sure about anyone else.

I don't have a DVD Drive, All I have is a CD drive/burner. In my computer I have a few different drives, but when i put in normal cd's, it pops up as a new drive. Fuck i don't know, I need to read a book on computers or something. Either way, I put in a different CD and it reads it fine, but I put in oblivion and it doesn't bring up ANYTHING, and I can't go to my computer and run it from anywhere, it's as if i didn't put anything in at all.

Fuck. I had my friend build my computer, I didn't actually think games required DVD Rom drives...Wow, that's lame. I guess I won't ever be playing Oblivion unless I go buy a DVD rom drive and have a friend install it. Weak.

Is there anyway to get a CD drive to read it?

Nope. But buying and installing a DVD ROM drive is maybe the easiest upgrade you can do. Perfect for a beginner. Ill walk you through it in this thread if you want to go out and buy one.

Or you can pay a bit more and get an external USB DVD ROM drive. Ive never used a USB optical drive but im sure its painless.

external drives are expensive, id go internal if you are being money conscious about it. 20 second persual of newegg showed an LG external for about $100, cheapest one i saw initially.

Internal will be way cheaper, and only requires that you know how to use a philips head screwdriver to mount the drive in the slot, and plug in two cables (data, power). If you have the drive bay free, that will save you $60.

Alright, I'll go check out the local computer shop in town and call fries 30 mins away and see what they have. I've ordered stuff off of Newegg before, maybe i'll do that. Anyway, i'll talk to you more about it when I get it, thanks Mofish.
