Hopefully WOW won't turn into the anal grindfest that EQ currently is. EQ has degraded into a niche market of trying to push expansions every 6 months, without any of the real vision early EQ had with Verant.
WOW still has hope. We'll see how The Burning Crusade goes.

I'd be a lot more interested in WoW if there was more character development. Hero Classes need to be implemented.
Tossica: No, you're gay because you suck on cocks.
Darcler:
Get rid of the pictures of the goofy looking white guy. That opens two right there.

Theres a reason verant/sony did what they did, and for the most part it wasn't out of incompetance
The problem was instead of working on the game, they built a paradigm of rushing out expansion after expansion to try to squeeze out as much as they could.
A better way of doing things would've been to release one expansion per year and spend the other 6 months making it better, versus rushing more expansions out in a way that is totally predicated on dollars versus quality.

If you need any evidence for the "get it out by a certain ship date, regardless of completeness or quality" just look at the SOL release. How many crashes a day did we have after that? How completely broken was basically EVERYTHING? Seriously, it was like they'd released alpha code, much less beta code or (dream of dreams) real release-quality code.
That's why Vulak in VT got changed to a spawn ring; it's cause people were able to get 5+ Vulak's a week, due to how often the server would reset.
Beyond coding issues, there were a ton of balance issues, including spots where certain devs had set it up to be secret XP farms for their live characters (Ssrae Basement, for example) that had to be fixed. Oh, and lets not forget the zones that were completely missing, and stuff like the pathing in Seru, etc.
Anyway, the SOL release was absolutely clear proof that they didn't care about the game, they cared about the $$$ they could milk out of expansions.

I think SoL was the first major release by the new dev crew, no?
It was such a departure from everything that norrath had been
I REALLY wish AA's had been implemented like Blizzard Talents
it really meant you couldn't justify playing twinks anymore, which sucked out some of the fun for a lot of people
and yeah, 1 expansion per year would have been about right, if they'd all be Kunark/Velious quality (ps velious was the worst selling expansion of all time apparently)
