Sorry to burst your bubble, I didn't vote for Bush, either time.

Drem, Kerry sponsored a bill in the senate that would have effectively banned all repeating arms. While he wish washed about "crawling on his stomach stalking deer with his double barrel shotgun."

Neither major party gives a flying fuck about your rights. Certain people in the parties do perhaps, if they can be trusted to vote their conscience and not with party lines. I've voted independant since I was 18 and will continue to do so.

All of the rabidly anti-gun, anti-hunting politicians tend to reside in the democratic party. All I was saying is that if they woke up and dropped that particular stance, they would have a lot more luck.

Very very few people go to the polls thinking, "I'm anti gun and so I'm going to vote for so and so."

But millions of people who are pro-gun vote on that issue and that issue alone. You would think the DNC would wake up and try to capitalize on that low hanging fruit.

because they realize that if they were seen as pro gun, they would lose a whole lot more support. People aren't going to vote for them because they're anti-gun (maybe) but they sure as hell will avoid them if they were pro gun.

If a Democrat stood up on his soap box and made a hard stance on the enforcement of current gun laws, harsher sentencing on people who commit crimes with guns, and reform of the ATF so that they would spend more time fighting gun violence and less time persecuting legal gun owners, you really think they'd lose any base?

I doubt it.

Either way, the democrats and some of their supporters have chosen to make this issue a polarizing one, like abortion, when it really doesn't have to be. It cost them their 50 year reign in 1994, and it probably cost them the presidential election in 2000. (If Gore would have allowed the 2004 sunset of the AWB, he wouldn't have had to worry about Florida. He'd have already won.)

immigration being the new and up-coming big issue for the left and right to fight over. minrott is right, the democrats shot themselves in the foot and no, there isn't anyone to consider right now.

If Rudy Giuliani decides to run I will vote for him. We need someone in office who is "in tune" with the people, not who are "in-tune" with big business. You can cater to big business, but not at the expense of the people. I really don't think Giuliani has the heart to do that... to screw the people.

Nader has some good ideas, but he's very, very weird. I don't see him as a "leadership" type person either.

oy...Old news is better than no news, Kerry announced on 'Eat the Press' last Sunday. umm, this guy is easier to beat than the Boston Celtics...he lives in a dreamworld if he thinks he can get a nomination again but it's his (and his wifes) money.

Hilary, women who are shaped like pears will never be elected President in my lifetime. She will carry one, count em, one state...NY. Even Bill wouldn't vote for Hilary, he'd rather sleep on the couch.

Al Gore, the man that lost an election by Supreme Court decision. I think not.

Joe Biden v John McCain is my predict. McCain wins by a landslide.
