So, I win.

Post by Dylan »

I went to court today.

My scheduled time was at 9:30 so I came in at 8:30 and sat for awhile, then I asked a clerk if I might see my ticket. She brought me a copy of the ticket and the officers report and I noticed that it said in the officers report that he has to calibrate his radar every so often to insure that it reads correctly. So I asked the clerk how often that is and she denied me, saying that would be giving away legal advice. So I asked if I could see calibration records, that she could give me. Turns out that they need to be calibrated every 2 years, and I looked up the serial tag on the radar which was used to catch my whopping 10 mph overage, and it said it hadn't been calibrated since December of 2003.

Owned... fucking owned...

Ticket dropped, even got a congrats from the judge who said "Very impressive, you certainly did your homework."

If you're on a highway and there are three or more lanes, just stick to the middle lane and cruise at 10 mph over the speed limit. Where I live the limit is 55 mph so I cruise at 65 mph. No cop here would ever have the audacity to give a ticket for 65 mph.

I use to live by that thought, then I got pulled over for it.

i got pulled over saturday night for rolling through a stop sign (though i believe that i stopped quite well in fact... but there's no way to prove or disprove this now...)

94$ ticket :(

it sucks because there are always cops sitting at the intersection i was at waiting to catch all the college kids that live in josh's apartment complex for all manner of stupid things like this... i think Stadium View Apartments must account for a huge amount of citation income for the lincoln police.

i feel really dumb being pulled into it. i swear it was a good stop, but again there's nothing i can do about it but bend over and take it up the tailpipe. you can bet i'm making exaggerated 5-second stops for every stop sign i encounter from here on out, though hehe

I just remain apologetic, polite, say sir a lot. So far of the many times I've been pulled over I've gotten 1 ticket.

Once I had 1 drink (still on my breath), left the bar, drove sleepy all the way home, let a cop chase me 6 blocks before I finally pulled over. He pulled me over for running a red light and swerving. Somehow, not only did he escort me home, but he let me off with a warning.

From now on I don't think you can whine about anyone who got off on a technicality.

And if they sneeze while they are asking for your license and registration, substitute the traditional "God bless you" with "You are sooooooooo good looking".

Works every time.

psht no... i don't really know anyone who DOES stop and count to three in their head before going, especially not with four rowdy other people in the car. i always stop pretty completely there anyway, as it is a busy intersection.

imo, the cop pulled me over in hopes of catching me for something else (driving drunk, alcohol in the car, or other saturday night shenanigans)--just as you are more apt to get pulled over for little things on new year's eve, etc.

Friend of mine got pulled over for going 2 miles over the speed limit on Christmas Day. Guess the cop was pissed about having to work.

I would bet that if they went to court on that it would be thrown out. 2 miles is so negligible.
