It basically allows you to setup a VPN anywhere! It goes through just about any router and once the network is created it acts just like a lan. The game Rise of Legends came out on demo with lan only multiplayer. We setup Hamachi and where able to play with no router setup ect.

lol I tried to use Citrix to connect to my computer in SoCal when I was working for the Navy to play EQ from a Navy base in Washington State once upon a time....never got it to really work.

Citrix Remote Desktop is remote control moreso than VPN, as far as I remember,
I had a VPN setup to play EQ at work in 99. It was fairly simple and rudimentary. I'm sure there are much better solutions, but you could easily VPN to your home LAN, than launch EQ.
