meh, I like brand (prob right behind grant hill and timmy), and it would be sweet to have the clippers win while the lakers sit there and watch but I still just love the way the suns play. It's flat out entertaining basketball

Yeah, Sacramento and Dallas loved being entertained in such ways for the past 10 years.

The Bulls were stupid for losing Brand. =\ Why!?

Postby Snero » Tue May 16, 2006 1:31 pm

they drooled at the potential of a chandler/curry front court and considered brand a bit under sized (I think I remember hearing this)

and the sad part is, what was supposed to be their strength has turned out to be their biggest weakness

If it weren't for the fact that Dallas did so much better DESPITE losing him, Nash's double MVPs after leaving the Mavs would be a top-ten 'mistake' by many writer's lists.

If ya'll wanted to look at the draft boards... the mistakes would be endless... the 03 board is especially silly. I mean... Darko? But then, Josh Howard at 29... stuff like that.

Going further back... how about 1998... Michael Olowakandi at #1 and Raef LaFrentz at #3 while Vince Carter slipped to #5, Paul Pierce to #10, Ricky Davis and Al Harrington to the end of the first round... and Rashard Lewis sometime in the second round... meanwhile, Dallas trades Robert "Tractor" Traylor for... heh Dirk Nowitzki. Thanks ^_^.

Going back even further...

Tracy McGrady at #9 in 1997...
Kobe Bryant at #13 in 1996

the draft boards are fun to look at

Euros and Highschoolers are nearly impossible to predict, so I give a pass to anyone who missed them in the draft.

That was more of a retrospective "holy shit!" list.

Although, Shawn Bradley at #2 might be the all-time champion...

Kobe and McGrady, looking back they seem like huge blunders, but I remember when Zeke took Tracy at what 9, and people thought it was a big reach.

I think Charlotte got a lot out of Divacs, I don't think that trade was that bad at the time.

Well, given that the Warriors are known for their blundering, but still, picking Todd Fuller over Kobe in that draft has to rank up near the all time screwup lists.

Darko
:teehee:

I don't think anything will ever beat that...

When you consider the pure depth of that draft...

Tell me about it. I'd like to fuck Fran Vasquez with a curling iron.

Magic are going to be sick in a year or two though. Good foundation and ass tons of cap room. Things will get better for us. Howard will be a super star for a long long time.

I hear Hill is supposed to be retiring too. Which is a blessing for the franchise. I loved him in Detroit, but he has been pure hell on Orlando.

It's not really his fault, though, Spliffs. If he'd stayed healthy, he would've been a great pickup for Orlando. He's just had the most amazingly bad luck with a series of injuries that I've ever seen in any professional athlete, bar none.

yeah glad it's going to over soon. cheering for orlando has been a nightmare knowing that half your cap space is ass rooted with one player... sitting on the sidelines.

who do you think they are gonna pick up in this year's draft, spliffs? i'm hoping morrison slips.. he'd be perfect in orlando with howard demanding double teams. we need some big time scoring.

i'm actually hoping for rashard lewis with that cap space. he looks like a good fit.

.. on a side note..

Morrison would be great but he won't flip far enough. Reddick wouldn't be bad. He isn't going to be half the player in the NBA he was in college, but a three point marksman to spread the defense wouldn't be a bad idea.

This one wasnt as bad as it seams though. The trailblazers already had depth at the SG position. Drafting another one wouldnt have helped them, they needed a big man. By getting that many people thought they would win the championship that year.

Albeit Bowie was a bit of a downer, drafting MJ wouldnt have helped much at the time.
