An idea just popped into my head. Would anyone be willing to host a ventrilo server for us NT folks? Obviously for those at work this wouldn't be something viable.....

Hosting is easy, its getting the pro liciense and paying for it.

I can work on getting a NT Teamspeak server running, actually have one but want to do some work on it before it goes live. Before it goes live I need to come up with some way to link the user database to the phpbb user database and disallow anonymous connection. Major problem I have run into at this point is TS uses unencrypted passwrod. Working on a web based TS interface that will combine the too but may take me some time.

If you are an anonymous user, then you cant see EE, correct? Post the password in EE, or start a private forum that you have to apply to join and just keep the password their, changing about once a week. Only those that have applyed to be in the forum and have been approved will actually see the password. MIght be a simple way around it.

I doubt there'd be much interest. We barely got a few people into IRC, which is just a java applet firing up.

Its a nice idea, Mark, but really I wouldn't do it given I believe there will be a huge lack of interest.

No one would use it.

People come here during work and obviously wouldnt be able to join then.
But most of the time, when they get home, they dont log onto NT. They spend time with their family or play games and whathaveyou.

Gid can set one up but it would be a complete waste.
Actually, I would rather him not worry about it. The more complicated shit you guys ask for, the more he has to work around Vonk's old board, the more time he is at his computer and the less time he pays attention to me or my daughter.

We could completely blow away NT and restart fresh. It's what Vonk recommended, and might fix a lot of the sploit potential and DB issues.

Gidan is an overachiever and NEEDS to be in control.

Lyion, he has tossed the idea of scrapping this board and putting the new one up, but we dont know how many people would come back if he didnt make the promise of readjusting post counts and losing all the threads.

I would like a fresh start with easy updates, but not if it means we lose half our members due to "inconvienience" (<~~ oh sweet jesus, I butchered that I think)

Leave us the option of connecting to the IRC with other clients then the web based one

edit: AKA post the server, channel and any relevant passwords somewhere.
