I saw some pics of the truck stops... they really are quite impressive.

if you're spending any time at all in the truck stops, you're already doing something wrong

That's usually where you park overnight. You do your laundry, take a shower, eat dinner, use the gym, then head back to your truck to sleep. Then take off in the morning and continue your route.

what I don't understand is how every couple of weeks you come here posting about some job you heard about on the internet that pays big bucks, and how you're suddenly all gung ho about that new career

pick one, and get going

I really wasn't that gung ho about the other ones. I posted that I did some research in those particular fields, and came here asking questions about it. And it was only two other career fields if you remember... the medical path I was looking at to become a radiologist, and the SAP/R3 consulting. There's a 2 1/2 year waiting list to get into the radiology program, and to become a SAP consultant would take way too long to get to that point starting from ground zero.

I am actually going to a trucking school today to talk to them about this industry. What I know so far from talking to a recruiter yesterday is that trucking school is 4 weeks long, and then when you graduate you take the test at the DMV to get your class A CDL, and then try to get on board with a trucking company. They have job placement specialists there at the school. Once you get hired by a trucking company you do another 4-6 weeks OJT with a one-on-one personal trainer that observes you while you're "over-the-road" (OTR). When that training is done, and you pass, then they hand you the keys to your own truck and you're ready for dispatch. :P

I'd go with Radiology tbh. That's probably the second-most demanded job in the medical field besides nursing atm.

and that's just starting. 10 years down the line you'll be up to mad cash... my mother's just a CN and she gets 40+/hr
