Snake on a plane

Postby Phlegm » Sat Jun 03, 2006 1:03 pm

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The much-talked-about movie "Snakes on a Plane" doesn't open until August. But Monty Coles doesn't have to see it. He's lived it.

Three-thousand feet in the air on Saturday, he discovered a four-and-a-half-foot black snake peering out at him from the instrument panel of his Piper Cherokee.

He'd already been preparing to land in southern Ohio after a flight from West Virginia.

He tried to swat the snake. But it just fell to his feet under the rudder pedals and then darted to the other side of the cockpit.

So, while flying the plane with one hand, Coles grabbed the snake behind its head with his other hand, even as it coiled around his arm.

Next, he told the control tower he needed emergency landing clearance — and that he had "one hand full of snake and the other hand full of plane."

He says he was cleared right in.

godamn black snakes are everywhere here. Theres 4 or 5 living behind my house right into the woods that you can find at any given time. Ones about 4 foot long and hes fun to mess around with. Big bastard bit me a few weeks ago, not poisonous or anything but they still sting like hell. Killed a baby copperhead yesterday too :boots:

While im on the nature subject, I had a fun run in with coyotes the other night. Was campin on the lake and just before i put the fire out I heard coyotes callin each other, so we shined a flash light around and saw 4 or 5 sets of eyes. No real point to that story, just interesting I guess. Wish i wouldnt have been in a national park or i would have a stuffed coyote in my living room :hiphop:

Heh, that reminds me of some years up here when Coyotes were very agressive and were attacking people in their tents.
