I got here a bit late so there are a few points I'd like to respond to without quoting all of them thx~

Someone montioned that Muslims probably see Christianity as a "wacky" religion. This is not true. They believe that Jesus was a prophet, and they consider him to be holy. They are also supposed to respect the Bible. At the same time they are taught to kill us if and when we don't convert to Islam.

A response to Mindia.... As Christians we should question our religion. We shouldn't doubt it, but we should continually question every aspect of the Bible and Christianity as a whole in order to obtain greater understanding and knowledge. It's rediculous that you think Christians shouldn't do this. And why not make 'what if' statements to question even ourselves? I can't think of a better way to evaluate our beliefs.

Oh, and China would most definately side with the US. What they care about more than anything is money, and having the US on their side is good for their economy. Especially considering the amount of American business in China. Other than BMW 700 series the most driven cars are Buicks (mabye VW is bigger than Buicks ... I dunno)

Mmm I know that it says in the Book of Daniel that when the dome of the rock is destroyed the 3rd temple will be built and the coming of the antichrist will begin. It's all supposed to lead to the 2nd coming of jesus.

Ultimately, Mindia, you believe your religion to be the right and proper one, and others to be incorrect, because of your faith. I may disagree with your faith, but congrats to you for believing in it so strongly. What you haven't seemed to ever really grasp though, and it's one of the biggest sources of my frustration with you over the years here, is that other people can be JUST as strong in THEIR faiths, even if those faiths are radically different than yours. They can be JUST as convinced that their faith is right, true and correct and that YOUR faith is wacky, weird and dangerous as you are convinced about theirs. And guess what, both of you are right, and neither of you is right.

In all actuality, muslims believe they're worshipping the same God as the Christians and the Jews. They believe that Jesus did exist, and was a Prophet on par with the earlier prophets of the Old Testament, but not that he was actually God's Son. (The Jews don't believe Jesus was God's son either, remember). They believe that there is 1 true Bible in the world, and that originally, all 3 religions had the same one. However, over time, the Jewish bible and Christian bible were corrupted/mistranslated/etc, and are no longer the correct Word of God. They believe the Koran to be that original version of the Bible, as re-revealed to Muhammad directly by God, and written out verbatim. That's why, at least originally, Christians and Jews were referred to as "the brothers of the book", and were treated as misguided cousins, not infidels.

Yes, these days there are certain elements of Islam that have perverted the messages of their religion into a message of hate, intolerance and violence. Guess what, they're in no way unique in that regard. Christianity has its own period of such things, or doesn't the Spanish Inquisition, the Crusades, and burning (or threatened burning) of people like Galileo at the stake for daring to disagree with Church Doctrine ring a bell. Christianity just got a several hundred year head start to get this crap out of the way long ago, where Islam is a much younger religion. Hell, even today you can find radical "Christian" groups like the White Supremecists who pervert christian teachings into a message of violence and hate, it's by no means unique to Islam.

Ultimately, one of MY strongest beliefs is that there is *NO* "One Right True Absolute Way for All People." Every person is different, every person has different needs, and a different approach to life. What works for person A will not necessarily work for person B. And while the 2 of them may believe in different faiths, they both need to respect the other person's conviction as a mirror of their own. Just as you wouldn't want some outsider telling you how to live your life, and that your behavior is wrong because it doesn't conform to THEIR faith, you need to respect them in the same way, and let them live their life as they see fit, and not try and tell them they're "wrong", etc. in how they conduct themselves in their private lives.

Actually they believe that the Koran is the final version of the book God gives to humanity. They don't believe it's the original.

I agree that people of various faiths need to respect other religions. I view any religion other than Christianity to be wrong, but I respect that others believe in different things. My only beef with the Islamic religion is how it blatantly contradicts itself saying that it is a religion of peace when the Koran instructs Muslims to kill infidels. That's not a perversion of the religion Arlos - it's stated very clearly in the Koran.

Well, it's very clearly in the Bible that you're supposed to take a teenager who talked back to his parents and stone him to death. The Old Testament is chock full of peole getting killed, blown up, destroyed in fire & brimstone, etc. etc. etc. for being unbelievers or for not following God's law. (regardless of whether or not they were Jewish).

All of that is very clearly stated in the Bible. Does that mean Christianity or Judaism is not a religion of peace?

Also, at least as I understand it (could easily be wrong, I am sure), neither Christians nor Jews are considered to be true infidels, since they're brothers of the book, and do worship the same God, albeit in misguided ways (from their point of view).

That particular example is valid for Judaism but not Christianity. When Christ died on the cross he made forgiveness possible.

Christianity is truly the religion of peace. How many people did Jesus chastise and slay? He could have tossed Satan down off that mountain, but he even didn't do that. People have convoluted Christianity and made many other people think Christianity is not the religion of peace because of travesties cited by Arlos, and I agree with that. Muhammad is not a prophet of peace. A quick google search will prove that. Muhammad was very Hitler-esque and self-righteous individual. He reminds me of a Muslim version of David Koresh.

Yes, you can believe in whatever you want, but when your beliefs start to encroach upon my safety or my loved ones safety... that's when I put the big defensive block up. I don't trust Muslims. The world would be a much better place without them, and a much safer place.
