Deadly Heroin lab shut down.

Postby Minrott » Fri Jun 09, 2006 2:27 pm

Long and short, some heroin lab was mixing a painkiller into it's shit, which happened to make the stuff extremely deadly.

My question is, so fucking what?

Seriously, why shut it down? Seems counter productive to me. Let it ride. Hell, take half the money we spend on the DEA, and start flooding the street with heroin that kills on the first hit. Just how long would it take for either A) People to get into rehab rather than take a chance on the stuff they bought or B) Problem solves itself.

Heroin can kill you anyway.

Yah... weed and coke should be legal and maybe good X, but after that everything else should stay off limits.

There's a little more difference than zero.

I don't actually think we should purposely put killer heroin out on the streets. But the millions of dollars we spent busting a lab that made killer heroin seems counter productive to me. I've seen at least 5 large national or metro newspapers with this as a head line, like we should be proud we've made life 5% safer for terminal junkies.

I'm all for the legalization of weed, maybe quality controlled X and coke. And the taxation of them.

But fucking heroin? Costs taxpayers less to bury a junkie than pay for 5x rehab + hostpital bills.

what makes heroin so bad, or more apropriately so much worse than alcohol or nicotine? i'll never touch heroin, i'm capable of making that choice without the government making it for me. i also don't like that they lock people up for possessing and using it, and even for selling it. it should be regulated like the "legal" controlled substances.

why are drug dealers criminals, and tobacco executives who knew their product was dangerous yet did nothing but make it more addictive not?

cigarettes have a very high chance of killing you if you habitually use them, with no discernable benefit. alcohol is a poison, which destroys people, families, and causes too many car wrecks to count. both are perfectly legal, yet regulated to prevent minors from obtaining them. the irony of cigarettes is they're legal, yet it's illegal for the companies to advertise their product :eyecrazy:

thanks to the war on drugs(which we will never win) it is far easier for a 15 year old to buy weed, heroin, or any other illegal substance than it is for them to buy a six pack, or carton of camels.

Heroin addicts are addicted obviously, but the first time they shot up they knew it was an addictive drug and they made a conscious non addicted decision to use it. You reap what you sow.

most drugs slowly suck you in, and you become addicted without realizing it

a huge portion of heroin users are addicted after the first shot

it's incredibly addicting

Bullshit. Deep down some part of you wants to be addicted to it for whatever reason. Every single junkie I have ever known has made a conscious decision to not just use but abuse heroin. Once you've decided you are going to abuse it, you might as well just blow your brains out but it is a decision you make and not something that just "happens" the first time you use it.

have you mindia?

this is not a "make mindia look bad" question, i'm really curious because i know you were into a drug scene back in the day and messed around with meth a bit

i personally have never tried anything harder than pot-- with the singular exception of morphine (once) and i liked it so much that i swore never to do it again

Me either. Always felt the risks were far too high to even remotely balance out any potential enjoyment I would get out of using it. It does effect people differently. I have one friend who's tried it twice, and both times he never got high, he just spent 8 straight hours projectile vomiting. Now, for me, trying it once and spending 8 straight hours vomiting my guts out would've been plenty, but my friend is more stubborn than I. rofl.

The only time I ever had morphine wasn't recreational. I was in the hospital, with the leg infection I've mentioned before, and the pain from it was so bad, none of the other drugs they'd given me were touching it. So, they finally gave me morphine for it, and that killed the pain enough to let me actually fall asleep for a bit. That one hospital stay is the only time I've ever been given it though, and it's not something I'd seek out for recreational purposes, ever.

I've experimented with quite a few drugs. I was addicted on meth for a while. I never even considered trying heroin. It was always something that I knew not to touch. I have a very addictive personality.
