Well I guess it goes both ways because I think HOCKEY is a fucking faggot sport, and if I acciddently flip past it on tv and watch a second of it, I immediatly fall asleep

I really didn't like soccer till I saw that guy Ronaldinho play. Holy fuck. He makes it entertaining to watch.

See, I'm old enough to at least have vague memories of seeing Pele play. Ronaldinho is amazing, no doubt, but Pele was better. Pretty much universal consensus is that Pele is the greatest soccer player who's ever lived.

If you can find it, go look for some video from him playing. I remember seeing one clip of him doing a complete backward somersault bicycle kick in the top of the penalty box, timing it so absolutely perfectly that his foot connects with the centered ball right as his foot reaches the top of the arc, and he still has enough control to aim the ball he hit into an upper corner of the net where the goalkeeper had no chance at it. It's one of those acts of athleticism you see oh so rarely that you wouldn't think are even physically possible if you hadn't seen it with your own eyes.

Cant really have a discussion about greatest player without including Maradona. He wasn't exactly the nicest person but he was a damn good player. I would say if anyone could give Pele a run for the best it would be him, though I still would give it to Pele.

and yeah ronaldinho is an incredible player to watch. he makes the game look so beautiful instead of the italian style of grinding the game out.

Pele and Beckenbauer were the two greatest players that ever lived. They set the standard as to how the game should be played, and are still the envy of soccer players all over the world.

This thread gives me hope. Just recently a friend and myself were lamenting over why there was not more interest in international sports in the states. My dad, having grown up in the U.K., breathed cricket and soccer.

I so wish I still played, though I doubt my knee would be able to take it anymore. Still not sure if I should have passed up the opertunity to play international

. Damn them for making me choose them or graduating HS.

I love when World Cup time starts getting close because people in this country start showing atleast some interst. Love that I get to watch most of these games in HD, they look amazing.

Pele is easily the best soccer play in history... it is widely known also. Not to long ago maybe on youtube..cant remeber I saw Pele doing a tight ass trick that ronaldinho couldn't copy and then at the end he was like "Don't worry your still to young".

Naw, game was called fine. None of the goals was on a penalty shot or anything. The US defense just played soft and stupid, and their forwards didn't do shit. I watched a good chunk of the game, US looked awful. I finally turned it off when they were down 2-0, cause they were just that bad.

The Czech's owned the midfield. The US was just out of their depth in that game. The Czech's came out ready to win, the US came out flat footed. The game was over at the 5 minute mark. They broke the US team with that first goal, you could see that they just didn't have anything in them.

If they want to have any chance of getting out of their group, winning against Italy is a must (preferably by 3+ goals). Any chance at first place is gone but round 2 is better then nothing.

We played HORRIBLE. Jesus im almost embarrassed after watching that game. I thought the refs did a fine job, we just got outplayed. Man did Donovan have a shitty game. Jesus, they lose their 6'8 scorer and we STILL couldnt stop em at all.

Was hoping Ghana would have done something against Italy, I had to stop watching just before Italy scored the first goal, and Ghana was actually lookin pretty good, with TONS of blown opportunites.

Holy hell the best comeback easily was Australia versus Japan. Japan was leading 1-0. They didn't let them score all the first quarter and they owned till they were in 33mins or so into the 2nd quarter. In like 15 mins Australia scored 3 goals and beat their ass 3-1.

Australia scored their 1st goal in the 84th minute of the match. Each half is 45 minutes, so they got 3 goals in < 10 minutes, including stoppage time.

I am not disagreeing about it being the best comeback in the tournament by far up til now, though.

I'm looking forward to seeing Brazil play tomorrow, that'll be fun.
