I played a healer during some of the good old zergs of TM and Xroads. The only reason I would have seen myself at a disadvantage was due to the fact that alliance outnumbered horde by a long shot. Half the time I wandered out in the open with a rogue or two nearby, and you were golden, because people see you and think "hey, free priest!" That was fun.

Non instaced pvp is not knowing when you will be killed or when you will kill somone else. Something that cannot be experienced on a pve server.
random ganking isn't real pvp
having the ability to destroy someone's city/castle is real pvp
