Okla. Governor Approves Executing Molesters

OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma on Friday became the fifth state to allow the death penalty for repeat child molesters, although legal scholars questioned the constitutionality of the new state law.

Similar statutes already are in place in Florida, Louisiana and Montana, and South Carolina's governor signed a similar law on Thursday.

Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry didn't discuss the measure Friday as he signed it into law.

The law makes the death penalty an option for anyone convicted of a second or subsequent conviction for rape, sodomy or lewd molestation involving a child under 14.

Defense attorneys and death penalty experts said the measure defies recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions that have scaled back the death penalty's application.

Richard Dieter, executive director of the Death Penalty Information Center in Washington, said the sex offender bills are a reaction to public outcry over the frequency and seriousness of sex offenses, and the attention they receive in the media.

No one convicted of a sex offense has been executed since the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated capital punishment 30 years ago, though one inmate is on death row in Louisiana following his 2003 conviction for raping an 8-year-old girl.

I would say 15 and below....at 16 you should see the way parents these days are letting their daughters run around like whores. Hell I've been to parties in LA where most of the people were in their late 20's but there were girls there probably 17-18, drunk, blowin lines, out at 3 and 4 in the morning.

I have to agree with this. Horrible as rape/molestation are - this is intensely abusable by women - and even children - who have an agenda or a grudge. Don't think it wouldn't happen: because it does and will. Cases are often reduced to one person's word against another - and a single person's word should not have the power of death over another.

I hear where you're coming from Tikker, but the truth is, especially here in the USA, far too many women cry rape or molestation as a form of vengence, when in actuality, THEY were the ones who initiated the whole mess in the first place, and then regretted it after for whatever reason (or set it up on purpose).

However, where children are concerned, if it is proven beyond a doubt, a simple death penalty is still, IMO, too lenient for those bastards, but it's a good start. Combine it with a full castration (I am all for female clitoral castration as well) and I'll call it good.

The problem with this Trie is that many scientists have proven that for a good number of child molestors, the molestation is not sexual in nature for them, it is more of a power trip. So rather than molesting with a sexual organ, those people would just move on to other objects.

I am saying to supplement the death sentence with it. The sole purpose of the castration is torture, pure and simple.
No one who rapes/molests children is deserving of as easy a death as we provide to criminals in this country.
