When they pull a gun on you and you pull your trigger first that's legitimate. When you have a disarmed crook on the ground and you're beating teh shit out of him with a pipe that's excessive force. Actually I probably wouldn't say anything. Like a smart person, I would give the guy what he wanted from my register, let him walk out of the door and call the police.

I have been in the Air Force for 15 years and I am sure that there are many other posters here with some form of military or civilian training. It completely makes me sick that this guy is trying this shit out. Similiar to the person that was trying to break into a house, fell through a skylight onto a knife. Then sued the homeowner for negligence. Its stupid, there are alot of serious issues with the justice system. Him suing the autozone guys, how is that justice?

I certainly dont blame the workers for doing what they did, but regardless excesive force is what it sounds like to me. Again i dont blame them, at that point they should have let the cops handle it. Its just not worth going after someonoe like that, however in that situation i probably would have done the same thing out of anger/adreneline rush etc.

The cops job is to protect and serve, thats what they are there for (piss poor job sometimes). The workers were lucky they didnt get shot during the attempted robbery, to go back after them (again i dont blame them) is asking for something to happen to them.

I do agree that if there was some sort of vigilanty justice would be ideal. But unfortuanatly that would get WAY too out of hand, real quick in this society.
