Farcry

Post by Lyion »

Picked this up yesterday, and I must say its brilliant.

Really fun pace, nice levels, with a good touch of realism mixed with fun.

If you dug Half Life the first time, I think you'll like this.

Feels a lot like Duke nukem to me yet the graphics are the best in any game I've seen to date. I had to turn the details down to medium though but it still looks stunning.

I picked up Painkiller as well. Another incredible fps but a little faster paced than Far Cry.

Only played about 20 minutes of it last night. It's fun and the graphics are fantastic but so far it's nothing groundbreaking.

Just really fun. And the retail game is looong. I have about 40 hours pumped into it and its still going.

Haven't tried the multi, but the single player game is worth the 40 bucks.

I don't warez. Being a software developer, I have respect for people who want to get paid for their work.... Unless its Microsoft.. then fuck em :)

I love the ragdoll physics. The game content is kinda mediocre but the engine is amazing. I can't wait to see what other folks do with it.

Actually the content is quite good, and the storyline is the best since I played Half Life. Did you play retail or just the demo?

Being you go from Underground area's, to Beaches, then Jungles, to hang gliding, to driving a Jeep, to fighting in a ship, and then into an area that creeped me out a la the original Doom.. The game is the best I've played in some time.

Nothing evolutionary, just a huge upgrade graphics wise, and great fun playwise.

Well, finally got it and just finished it.

It was fun, really long and the last few levels were really fucking hard.

Not sure how great the graphics were since my comps not the greatest so I had to suckify all the video options.

The graphics are the very, very good. Better than anything else I've played.

Yeah, the last few levels totally kicked my ass, and the game keeps going when you think everythings over, too.

Even with all graphics pumped up, my P4 2.6 with Radeon 9700 pro ran smooth.

Trying realistic difficulty setting now. Doesn't seem that much harder.

I played the game one time through at the normal setting. While it was a blast, I have no desire to play the single player through again.

I'll check out the Multi sometime. If its decent, it could be a nice Quake 3 replacement

I'm a little behind, just picked this up today. Graphics are spectacular, has a real "new" counterstrike feel to it, but it keeps crashing to desktop on me =\

I played through the whole game with my Radeon 9700 2.6 P4 with zero crashes.

I do know some people had to change the display settings, to not overwhelm their machine.

I think playing through FPS on anything but the hardest setting is a waste of time. They are so much more fun when set to max difficulty level.

Abit AN7
Athlon XP 3000
GeForce FX5600 256mb
1 gig DDR400 RAM
7200rpm HD with 8mb cache

I doubt the game is overwhelming my system, for some reason I just can't get it to run stable. It runs plenty fast, good framerate, low loading time, and never gets choppy. It just randomly crashes to desktop or reboots the pc.

I read there's a few things you can tinker with in the graphics setup if you have stability problems.

True Taxx, having to reach stupid checkpoints and dieing in the same spot over and over again sucks.

I patched it to 1.1. Updated my video drivers, tuned all graphics to low, made sure my settings were on 32 bit color, all the advice from the tech page and still crashes. I can understand crashing to desktop but the fact that it randomly reboots the computer worries me. The last time that happened to me while playing a game was when I first started EQ on a Celeron 300 with a TNT2 and not enough power supply to support the card.

But I would think 600w PS is more than adequate for my Geforce. =/ grrr.

Definitely sounds like a power issue. AGP slot not getting enough juice or something.
