In the official Church of Scientology magazine Advance! (#130, pgs.22-23), there is a report about an Operating Thetan who, it is alleged, walked directly into the path of an oncoming truck but saved their own life by traveling in time to before they left their home. "I made the decision instantly to turn back time", says the anonymous Scientologist, who then found himself "standing by the door I'd left not 10 seconds before - completely unscathed". The author reports being "very pleased" with his OT abilities.

Why do you care what they belive in. As long as it gives them spiritual light and leads to betering oneself, i could care less if they worship Chulthu or Tickers Left Nostril

I completely understand what you're getting at.

This is ridiculous though.

Have you ever read up on what these people actually believe? It's a religion CREATED, out of thin air, by a science-fiction author.

All religion is CREATED, you think that Catholocism has always been here? No, its a bunch of men deciding what was right and wrong and writing a book about 3,000 years ago

erm, they all are (well, not the science-fiction author....unless you consider writing it down to make them a defacto sci-fi author)

Yeah, but most others weren't started as a competitive bet between 2 sci fi authors to see who could found the religion with the most followers and do it first.

The bet was between Hubbard and Heinlein. Hubbard won, but Heinlein's religion still exists, it's known as the Church of All Worlds.

That's my point exactly.

Christianity wasn't developed for the sole purpose of "hah, I got more followers tee hee"

Quite frankly, I can't think of any religion off the top of my head excluding the two mentioned previously (Scientology and CAW) created for a bet.

Then why are all Christian Holidays around the same time as Pagan holidays.

Do some research, Jesus was born in the fall when shepeards were out in the fields with their flocks, not at Christmas time.

Just some food for thought

Christian holidays are the same days as pagan holidays beceause the church was annoyed that people were technically converting to Christianity, but were still celebrating the old festivals like they always had. So, they co-opted the pagan festivals, made christian holidays that matched up with them, so that people could celebrate the same days they had, but do it in a fashion the christian church approved of.

Christmas, for example, co-opted the Celebration of Mithras, just as one example.

Scientology is hilarious. Don't you have to take a course and pay some outrageous amount of money before you can become a member? The fruity little club that brainwashed Chef

Hubbard is a genius. Why write a book when a religion can make you so much more money.

I thought scientology was actually a big joke when Hubbard created it? Am I mistaken.

It doesn't matter... The Flying Spaghetti Monster will destroy all those scientology heathens starting with Tom Cruise.

The main problem with Scientology that they try their best to cover up is people dying after giving them thousands of dollars for tests and "education" etc. So they pay 20 grand to be a Scientologist and end up in a dumpster 3 months later with no friends or family.

Yup. Historians agree that Jesus' actual birthday was around March or April.
