Rush Limbaugh done in by Viagra.

Postby Phlegm » Tue Jun 27, 2006 10:58 am

From Associated Press:

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida (AP) -- Rush Limbaugh could see a deal with prosecutors in a long-running prescription fraud case collapse after authorities found a bottle of Viagra in his bag at Palm Beach International Airport. The prescription was not in his name.

Limbaugh was detained for more than three hours Monday at the airport after returning from a vacation in the Dominican Republic.

Customs officials found the Viagra in his luggage but his name was not on the prescription, said Paul Miller, a spokesman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Miller said the alleged violation could be a second-degree misdemeanor. The sheriff's office was investigating and will soon turn the case over to the state attorney's office, which had no immediate comment Tuesday.

Under the deal reached last month with prosecutors, Limbaugh was not to be arrested for any infraction for 18 months in exchange for authorities deferring a charge of "doctor shopping."

Prosecutors had alleged the conservative talk-show host illegally deceived multiple physicians to receive overlapping painkiller prescriptions.

Limbaugh also must submit to random drug tests and continue treatment for his admitted addiction to painkillers.

Limbaugh's doctor had prescribed the Viagra, but it was "labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes," Roy Black, Limbaugh's attorney, said in a statement.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection examined the 55-year-old radio commentator's luggage after his private plane landed at the airport, Miller said.

Investigators confiscated the drugs, which treat erectile dysfunction. Limbaugh was released without being charged.

Anyone know if Rush was a vocal supporter of the drug war/ect in his frequent political blatherings? Would be interested to hear.

If you trust our government you need your head examined. I don't care whether you swing left, middle, right or homo, this government is turning this country into a police state while the overweight masses sit complacent on their couches waiting to see who wins the next American Idol.

We all know that it were some prominent democrat that got picked up on this, Rush would use it as an example of how democrats are ruining the country.

Who cares how what he would say about it! Or that cunt Coulter, or Frankin or Moore or anyone else for that matter. The problem is the searching and prodding of an innocent person without cause as a matter of security whatever quise of the month it takes.

I take it you are 100% against any searches at airports then.

Also, He wasn't innocent now was he? Also, he was searched at an airport, if I recall, he was actually really big on random searches at airports (National Security and all). Guess he never thought he would be the one searched. If he would have been prescribed his own pills under his own name he woudln't have had a problem.

If it had been an everyday john that had done that, and had been searched, you can be sure they would have been harder on him, it just wouldn't have been news.

That should give customs officials enough just cause to search his bags and even his private plane. He was coming back from overseas. There are customs laws and no amount of fame should get you off the hook.

Actually, I'm 100% against the government searching/screening at airports. I felt safer when the airlines were in charge because they had a much larger stake in the game. If a highjacker or terrorist takes a plane down the airline suffers from loss of revenue and people who are in charge of security lose their jobs.

Customs officals have had the right to seach any incoming person and their belonging for as long as I can remember, this isn't anything new. Have the airlines ever had any stake in that?

I can't remember the date since I don't hear much about it, but one time before the gov't security stepped in I heard about some hijacked planes being flown into a couple towers in NY and into the Pentagon. Definitely more safe back then.

I can't really say one way or the other about the Pentagon but I think people saying bombs were set up in the twin towers are just grasping too far to find a conspiracy and tbqh it's a little offensive.
