North Korea Preparing Missile Test

Postby Phlegm » Fri Jun 16, 2006 11:18 am

that could reach the US. From Associated Press:

(AP) North Korea is accelerating preparations for testing a missile that has the potential to strike the United States, a U.S. government official said Friday. A test of the Taepodong-2 long-range missile may be imminent, the official said.

The official agreed to speak but only on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the information.

The official said the Bush administration is very concerned about activities that point toward a test, but declined to elaborate.

Japanese and South Korean officials also have expressed concern in recent days about the reported North Korean missile launch activities. Kyodo News agency in Japan reported that an additional rocket section had arrived at a North Korean launch site within the past two days.

In Tokyo, the Japanese government responded to news reports about a possible test by warning that any such step would jeopardize the country's security.

The reports of a possible launch come after a prolonged hiatus in six-party nuclear disarmament talks designed to create a Korean peninsula free of nuclear weapons.

Persistent efforts by the United States and other members of the group to persuade North Korea to resume the discussions have not been successful. There have been no discussions since last November.

If North Korea was going to nuke anyone I'd put money on the Japanese first, they HATE the Japanese. If they do nuke someone though I'm guessing World War 3.

I don't think even Big Kim J. would be stupid enough to nuke the U.S. We would destroy the entire country.

The Taepodong-2 failed after 35 or 40 seconds today. Back to the drawing board for the North Korea.

Yeah, but they still tried it.

If they nuke it wouldn't be WW3 since every single country would side with us it would just be an ass whooping.

lol and those countries you're referring to aren't any threat to us either. China, Japan, Israel, Russia, Germany, England, France, Spain, Italy, etc. etc. etc. would all be on our side against N. Korea. Hell, Canada would probably be on our side too.

Lolz you guys are retarded if you don't think even china will side with us not to mention the only other country that really would like to nuke us is probably iran...and they don't have close to the nuclear abilitiy required. China did push us back but read a few news articles, they are even getting a little uneasy about the whole thing.

in my opinion the only thing china is uneasy about is how theyre going to tell the united states how to bugger off without offending us too much. they wont really need our support for very much longer, our lone super power status is about to be gone.

I don’t really see China doing anything other then what they see is best for China. I doubt they would side with Korea on this, though at the same time, I doubt they would side with us. I assume they will do just enough to not hurt their economical ties with us (as if we could afford to be cut off from china) and nothing more. If it came to a war with N Korea, my bet would be on China sitting in the stands watching.

WW3? Probably not. Though if there was, it would be a really odd conflict. Most of the world on 1 side, China on 1 side, N Korea on 1 side and the middle east on the other? In all, I am really not sure N Korea is stupid enough to nuke us. They have to know that we would respond quickly and with force, something tells me that our military would do a number on N Korea this time around.

if korea nukes the US, then a lot of other countries that have wanted to for a while but didn't feel strong enough to fight off the US will jump on the bandwagon

there's no way the US could win a 7 front war

that being said

korea nukes the US, the middle east countries will start launching at the US and israel

Israel will nuke back bringing the Brits into it. brits and US jumping in will make china and russia nervous and bad things will happen

Big question is, Korea tries to nuke us and we stop it. Does that make other feel stronger or weaker.

I wonder if Korea realizes at some point China is just going to roll over them.

the only muslim "middle eastern" country that has developed and capable nuclear weapons is pakistan, and they wouldnt attack the united states. their current government is in our pocket. if they did happen to feel frisky, india would run wild all over pakistan like they have wanted to for generations.

the rest of the middle east is pretty much a joke. iran and the saudis (the only countries with anything resembling an organized military) couldnt mount any form of an offensive against the US. israel? sure, but not the states itself.

im really interested in how all this north korea bullshit is going to unfold, for a change china doesnt have russia to hide behind and keep quiet. its right on their doorstep this time. china's true intentions will be shown before it all comes to a head.
