Math websites to prepare for test HELP

Post by Ganzo »

My wife is going back to school this fall. This school requires math test to get in. They gave her sample questions, and bot me and her long forgot how to solve those kind of problems. She's got 3 weeks before test, any segestions what she can do to refresh her knowlege. Maybe websites she can go to to read up on it.

here's example of problem on test:

3.65 x 10 to 2 power M/sec times 6.79 x 10 to neg 8 power sec/cycle

I don't remeber this shit anymore

24.7835 x 10 to the -6

2.47835 x 10 to the -5

http://mathforum.org/ is a great place to get info on all things math. Pretty much any question you've got, you can find there, or Ask Dr. Math.

one thing that people often get wrong or ignore is the units, always make sure you keep track of them. They can be a life saver when you're not quite sure how the numbers fit in, or you want to convert something

hehe it's kind of a trick question, once you compleat the square your left with having a negative ratical. As I looked back over the question I posted I miskeyed the 5 it was supposed to be 4 so it would have looked like
x^2-4x+4=0

Witch is kinda easy cause it factors down into

(x-2)(x-2)=0
So your left with
x=2

2^2=4
-4(2)=-4
+4=0

Go to barnes and noble and get her some SAT math prep books, that's pretty much what they are going to put on the entrance exams.
