The pussy comment wasnt really directed to you. It was for Lt. Pussypants AF :)

I would be plenty proud of him. He died doing his job. If he is joining the military, he's obviously proud enough and believes enough in his country to put himself in that risk.

You seriously need to move to another country. You obviously are unhappy here. Nothing is going to change anytime soon here and you know it, so why dont you just leave? :dunno:

My family ( whats left of em) are here. My woman is here. My house is here. My job is here. Im not gonna leave my home just becuase things imo are getting kinda fucked up here. Instead i will continue to live my life try to sway others to my opinion and wish dipshits like you with the love it or leave it mentality would slowly die off. I disagree with a lotta people so i should leave. Yea thats the ideals this country was founded on and what G might DIE FOR indeed.

Doing what you want and living your life your way is fine, and is the American way.

Disagreeing with our administration and what occurs is also our way.

However, serving in the military to protect our country is about honor and that's what I meant. Those who have served have that honor, those who did not, do not.

I served during three US Presidents and disagreed with some of their policies, but it's about the honor and commitment, and helping protect those rights and our country, whether my mission was in Albania for a President I didn't like or elsewhere. It was about duty and honor.

Did those die in Somalia have less honor, since there was no mission? Did those who died in Serb crisis have less honor? No, they had more. They served and gave.

Give serious thought to NOT getting laid for six months before you join the Navy.

Please, if he's on a Westpac... Well, suffice to say your boat trips do not really give you much knowledge of the Navy.

Ships are definitely an experience and not necessarily great. But the travel is brilliant.

I'd wager he'd do better in the Navy than Marines, given the lifestyles.

The Marine Corps is tough...It is vastly different than the other services, but it is a great deal of fun.

One big downfall of the Marine Corps is lack of duty stations. None of them are overly exciting.

The Marines really are not that different. Except for the abundance of short little dudes who think they are tough, and the much crappier than other branches lifestyle.

Standard Marine training ain't a big deal. If you want to prove something, go Teams. Sign up for BUDS in Navy basic, and then you'll really prove something to yourself.

I would almost recommend the Army so you could go to all of Asia, Europe etc.

You can go to all of Asia and Europe in the Air Force too. The best duty stations are with the Navy. The best quality of life is with the Air Force. If you are short and have esteem issues, the marines is good for you. If its jail or service, then I'd recommed the Army.

Heck, get a DLI/Linguist guarantee with the marines, and you can have killer duty stationed in Hawaii.

Gidan, you can get a contract for ANY branch of the service. Anyone who doesn't get guaranteed schooling and training, regardless of branch has been sold snake oil by a vapid recruiter.

I had two guaranteed schools and a guaranteed duty station in my Navy contract. They'll generally give you what you ask in any service provided your scores are good.

I'm 37, and my sister is a good bit older than me, in regards to the age question.

I would agree with you 10 or 15 years ago? But when was the last time you were on a float?

The Navy and the Marines have changed alot. Most fucking floats you are lucking if you even get to go ashore anymore. I'm not fucking kidding either.

The military is so godamn PC now, and rather let the troops go out and have a little fun they usually get stuck on the boat or on whatever foreign base they are at, because GOD FUCKING FORBID some Lance Corporal or Squid gets drunk and gets in a tussle.

In the five years I was in I watched the military change radically. The first couple of times I was on ship were cool and so were the ops, but as I neared the end of my tour it was pretty shitty.

Mainly most officers are now complete pussies and the military has suffered for it.

The travel is still worth it. You'll still see the world in the Navy and go places and see things nobody else will. I have been out since 1993 but still have amazing stories and cool memores.

Unfortunately the whole country has become more and more PC.

I'd still recommend to anyone seeking a career to go Air Force. The quality of life is just so much better than any other service, it's well worth it. Anyone who doubts it should see Sailor and Marine General berthing aboard most vessels. I so do not miss that shiite. Or go check out the average Army base, and compare it to any Air Force one.

You will get more pussy in the Army and even more in the Marines. Marine men are so fucking hot as long as they are in the uniform.
The Navy, the uniform is slightly homoriffic and the Air Force...well no self respecting slut strives to be with an Air Force guy. :teehee:

But really, the Army is my favorite choice. It's less bullshit and run around before you enlist. They are far more direct and upfront.

I wouldn't settle for mechanic first, though.

Also, if it is not in a contract, it's not happening with the military.

Shop it against the other recruiters.

I really, really can't stress enough that Gid should talk to the Air Force. Anyone here who is prior service will probably agree the AF is the way to go, especially for a family man.

lol they arent real.

We've already gone the AF path. It would take 2 years to get in the officer program, like he wants. Army, we get to chose when we want to go in.

I've been talking to a lot of Army wives and girlfriends and they are all pleased with being there.

Im not putting down the military either just dont wanna see kids my age get used by those who RULE us and get hurt.

I agree with Spazz for once.

Now is a terrible time to join the military... at least any branch in a position that would see combat. The country is in the midst of an increasingly consuming pointless war - with the potential for more conflicts in the near future.

If you want to join the military for the benefits and experience, that's way cool. If you want to join and be a hero and make a difference, that's way cool.

But if you join just to get a good and interesting job and personal growth, but end up being shot to death by some barbaric idiot in a country that there is no real reason to be stationed in (besides an incompetent president's personal vendetta, a political war for the benefit of oil companies, a scapegoat for the war on terror, a political move to have more leverage and influence in a hostile region, or whatever other reason it is) ... that's a pretty lousy way to end your life story.

Check out the Coast Guard. You'd have to go to the Navy basic training, but after that you will have a kick ass and exciting job. The Coast Guard is under Navy command, but only in times of war. I know a guy who has been with the CG for 25 years, and he absolutely loves it. You can become a helicopter pilot too if you wanted to go that route.
