I dunno wtf you are talking about with the years of cleaning comment, Kizzy. You just teach your kids to clean just like you teach them brushing their teeth, brushing their hair, etc.

Like I said, none of my three brothers are snipped or ever had a problem, probably because they were taught to take care of themselves.

Well my son wasnt potty trained until he was 3, I remember distictly because I wouldn't let him wear his new birthday bigboy pants until he learned to use the toilet, it took him like 2 days. So when I said years, I meant about 2 or 3, alot longer than the week of taking care of the snipped penis. Cuz being the mommy, she is the one who gets to pull the foreskin back and clean in between trhe folds until he is old enough to do it himself.

But that's not really any more work during bathtime though, no? :dunno:

My bigger concern would be for later on down the road. Adolescent boys sometimes go through phases of really bad hygiene practice, but I feel that has a lot to do with parental involvment.

Do you guys over analyze and micromanage everything like this once you become 'moms'?

I'm not looking forward to this shit.

Yes.
This is actually a big decision, as if should be made in or shortly after you leave the hospital after birth.

Why? Are you going to give birth and become a 'mom'?

spending 2 hours deciding which peanut butter to buy, smooth or crunchy is over analyzing things, spending some time to find out the pros and cons of cutting a piece of a baby off is hardly over doing things

You do tend to worry that you're doing the best thing for your children. Once you get over the panic attack that realizing that there's no 'understanding mom' waiting in another room to take that screaming child from you and calm it down gives you, that is. :)

Our little man is 4 months the 23rd of this month :) and we did have him snipped. Ours is done a bit different out here though. They do it at the peds office and at his 2 week appt. They like to do it this way because it heals a little bit faster and the clotting is better at that point so less blood etc. (or that's what they told us LOL) Anyhow, we had to put neosporin on ours for about a week and that was all :) It was easy and wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it'd be. The doc did ask if we wanted to watch and we both said no way. They told us he didn't cry the whole time just sucked on the nurses gloved finger she dipped in sugar water.

We didn't think much about to do or not to do, Ven wanted it done and I didn't see any reason not to.

Well, we had to slather our daughters head with neosporin for a little over a week, why not keep up the tradition and slather it on your sons....head....

Our daughter was born with a cut on the crown of her head, either from rubbing against my pelvis or an ulcer. She still has a quarter sized scar there.

Yeah it looks better snipped... but it looks the same erect anyway, when it's the most important.

Ok so this post was completely pointless.
I told Gid about this thread and he said that he was the final word on it anyway, he just wanted me to come to this decision myself to make it easier.
Had I said "ya know, let's not do it" he would veto it and fight me to get it done.

Thanks anyway yall haha

Circumsize the kid. Trust me, just do it. Years later, you will save the kid a lot of grief and trouble if he ever has to get circumsized at an age where he can feel it.
