I was actually refering to this:

Tom Cruise wrote:"These drugs are dangerous. I have actually helped people come off. When you talk about postpartum, you can take people today, women, and what you do is you use vitamins. There is a hormonal thing that is going on, scientifically, you can prove that. But when you talk about emotional, chemical imbalances in people, there is no science behind that. You can use vitamins to help a woman through those things."

There was no premeditation. There was no history of abuse. She didn't have a kid disappear in the past. There was no foresight this would happen. She was deemed an excellent Mother. Explain to me why she did this, Mar? If she's didnt get overwhelmed with depression and craziness, nobody has ever been.

Of course she did it on purpose, but was she in her right mind? Someone evil and vindictive would take the time to premeditate this and do it evilly. Snapping, drowning your kids, and sitting there drooling is not the sign of a sane person, and obviously there are issues there.

It's a simple matter of if you believe in mental illness or not. She is mentally ill and should be institutionalized. The tragedy here is if her asswipe husband didn't keep breeding her and not listening to the doctors saying she needs help and not more kids, she might've gotten ok.

She is where she belongs in my opinion.

She didn't really want the kids, her hubby kept her pregnant and at home. Killing the kids was her way at striking back at him.

You can technically be an 'excellent' mother and still not give a shit about your kids. Any woman that keeps her kids clean, fed and disciplined is considered an excellent mother.

She didn't start talking about demons until the next day, when she was naked and on suicide watch. Sounds like she decided she didn't want to stay in jail like that for killing them and made up a story.

I would be fine with her going into an institution if there was a condition along the lines of, If they find her to not be insane or if they feel she is capable of being released, she should then goto prison. That woman should NEVER be on the street again.

Part of me thinks that she just snapped. She just couldn't take it anymore and decided if she didn't have kids she could, so she removed them. You can be damned sure if somone gunned her down thinking she was possesed by deomons, they would goto prison.

I beleive 100% she is mentally ill, I beleive 100% she should pay for her crime for the rest of her life.

I swear with every fiber in my being, that if I ever met Andrea Yates, that I would punch her in the face. I would even face an assault charge. It would be worth it.

I dont care, honestly, if she was insane or not. I dont care if she did it on purpose or if Satan told her to do it.
What I care about it this:
Yates, 42, will now be committed to a state mental hospital, with periodic hearings before a judge to determine whether she should be released.

I like Gid's idea, and I dont know if that's what they are going to do or not. If she is found fit to leave the institution, she should get her ass ported to a nice broomstick-up-the-cooter-and-out-your-throat prison.

Or, since this is Texas and all, we should just give her lethal injection and be done with her.

That jury needs to be committed to a mental hospital.

In her first trial, Yates was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison. An appeals court overturned the conviction last year because erroneous testimony about a "Law & Order" television episode that didn't exist could have influenced the jury.

What the fuck is this "Law & Order" stuff? Did they fake some testimony saying it was on the show or something?

Sorta, they said that Yates may have been influenced by an episode of Law and Order where a woman drowned her kids in the bathtub and got off by reason of insanity.
There was no such episode. So based on that, that was false testimony or some shit and they threw that whole case out.
I'm angry about that part.

She didnt start talking about Satan until the next day when she was naked and on watch, as stated earlier, but in Texas, and it may be true for everywhere else, but the only way you can get off on insanity is if you didnt know what you were doing *at the time*.
To cover their bodies, call 911 crying, I'd say she knew good and well what she was doing right then. It might have been later when she "snapped".

For what it's worth, her ex-husband didn't think that she killed their children on purpose.

Her ex-husband knew that it was more or less all his fault. What a douche he is.

They should definately keep her confined to the mental institution for life. For an added effect they should search her house for all the mean face pictures the kids took and make her stare at em all day.

Blame the DA. She was perfectly willing to accept a lifetime in a mental institution without the trial.

Anyways, trying to get parole in Texas for a semi decent person is nigh impossible. Her review board won't take 1 minute for any of her hearings.

She doesn't go up against a parole review board. Her review board will consists mainly of psychiatrists. The board then make its recommendations to the judge who will decide if she will be release or not.

You're correct, but it's still a long and detailed process and she will not likely ever be released. Do you really think any judge in Texas will let her out?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060727/ap_ ... ates_trial

For his ex-wife to ever be released from state care will require a complicated evaluation process. Experts say it can take decades before psychiatrists decide a patient is healthy enough to leave, and even then a judge can reject those findings.
