Contrast ratios are blah.

Max resolution was the determining factor when I went to purchase a new monitor.

Explain how you manage to get your TV to upscale to that picture quality?

Simply, every single game is on max graphics and also in widescreen. The picture quality is unlike any I have ever seen. I'll be honest in saying I don't know the in's and outs of monitor technology. But I do know that with my current setup I can run any game on the market at max quality and it looks fucking amazing. It looks better than any other monitor at the lans, by far. Although that could be attributed to the 6800u SLI =p

I focused around contrast because I was told its 1000 pixels in every inch. I'm not sure if it has to do with widscreen resolutions but I do know they are different. Possibly 1366x768 in widescreen handles anything available now? Or maybe because it on a 16:9 ratio. Tonight I'll get some pics and you can see for yourself. It's truely amazing.

1366x768 is total pixels displayed independantly.

Contrast Ratio is how little light your monitor emits when displaying black.

I don't doubt you that it looks good, but it is still only running at 1366x768 resolution which is the maximum your tv can display. That is a failing point in most high end HD TVs for useage as a computer monitor in my experience. Best display resolution I've seen is about 1366x768. That is why I ended up opting for a widescreen monitor instead of a TV.

Resolution only does so much for picture quality.

I know, but I don't play games full screen 90% of the time. I need that deskspace usually.
