Guilds
I was wondering if people from other servers are seeing guilds shrink or just going away. Here on The Nameless a few are gaining members but I think that is because so many others are just dieing out.
On Zeb there has been some shrinkage at the very top of the game - but Zeb seems to run (typically) about 6 months behind The Nameless. Time will tell how hard it will hit that server.
I think, in general, that the bleeding out is going to happen some... the real proof of the situation though will come when WoW is released and if it hold up to the hype. If it does, there will be further bleeding (IMO) but I don't think EQ will go away. You'll see more consolidation of guilds and such - but the game will still be alive... just rebuilding some.

EQ will continue though, and sony will have to adapt to its changing playerbase.
Except WOW only has a few thousand in beta. Many from 'elite' guilds. It shouldn't effect EQ.
I think EQ is having the same problem DAOC and other games are.. Its summer. People don't want to game as much and many of the casual gamers are taking a break.
What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step.
