It's great. It's a very sweet fish. I highly recommend it. Why do you ask?

It's also getting highly endangered and is extremely overfished. BTW, Chilean Sea Bass is a marketing name for the fish, the real name of it is Patagonian Toothfish.

In any case, I would advise against buying or eating any of it, as the species is quite in danger of being pushed to the brink of extinction by overfishing.

It's pretty hard to find in restaurants. I recently went to a very very nice wedding that had Chilean Sea Bass as one of the options. I got it and it was great. I hadn't had it in years.

the reason you had it at a wedding is because that's how it's mostly sold-in large quantities, most restaurants will not serve it because of the way that it's caught.

It lives about a mile below sea level, it's white fish, you can't overcook it, it almost has no flavor so it takes on any added flavor/spice, and it doesn't taste like fish. apparently it's the perfect fish. I wanted to know if it's really that good.

It's good. For quite some time, I've ordered it every time I've seen it. I didn't know how they were caught or that they were close to being extinct.

From the Monterey Bay Aquarium and oceanic research center. One of the most prestigious and well-known oceanographic research entities in the country. (and an amazing Aquarium too, if you ever have the chance, GO.)

Lobster....the cockroach of the ocean.
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.

They eat other smaller fish. They are not bottom-feeders like catfish are.

Actually, a lobster will also hunt fish down. Crabs are bottom-feeders only. So, at least a lobster has some fresh food in their diet.

Must've been a hell of a fight. Salmon are strong. I caught a couple on a party boat out of the Berkeley marina.

hmm, you're right-you know they only knew of the fish since 1977 anyway...it's likely it eats other fish we don't know about that are also a mile down.
