Rofl I'm sure you do. You might think it's ridiculous to spend a lot of money on your kids clothes and I am pretty sure that people who spend a lot of money on their kids clothes think it's ridiculous that you spend umpteen amount of hours a day on an internet message board complaining about other people's lifestyle.

The market for expensive baby fashions and accessories is booming, according to Michael Silverstein, vice president of Boston Consulting Group. He estimates the high-end baby market at $45 billion, growing at a 10 percent annual rate over the last decade.

And if the only people buying luxury baby clothes were 100k a year trophy wives then it wouldn't be a 45 billion dollar industry. The people you are hating on are the minority.

I'm not hating...I just think they are ridiculously shallow. :)

Welcome to America.

And just so you aware that women who wear jewlery, people who buy expensive cars, rappers and basketball players who spray each other with $500 bottles of Crystal all fall under that category too.

I like how the two people argueing for expensive kids clothes are two people without kids.

Araby, Mart, Kizz, myself, Tikker...we all know how quickly clothes get messed up, how fast they are outgrown because we all spend our money on replacing them over and over again. A slim slim few can afford to buy a$100 onsie every week or an $80 sweater that *might* be worn once. But a lot of the people buying all this nice stuff cant afford to do so but still want their crotchtrophy to look nicer than the crotchtrophy next door.
Having said that, gifts and very special occassion (i.e. Christmas outfits, wedding outfits) are good excuses to pay a little more for clothes. But everyday wear? That's just shallow and stupid.

K, cong for not getting my point.

which is...

...PEOPLE CAN SPEND THEIR MONEY ON WHATEVER THE FUCK THEY WANT!

If someone wants to buy a $100,000 BMW they can, If someone wants to buy a $20,000 engagement ring they can, If someone wants to buy a $100 pair of pants for their new born they can and if someone wants to buy 10 rolls of saran wrap to cover themselves with, they can.

I see both points really. There's no need to waste, but at the same time if ya got it, hey. Personally I'd take joy in providing my kid with the best of he best stuff even if they are gonna puke, shit on or outgrow it. To me it's a reminder that I live a priviledged life and my kid is decorated because of it. Nothing wrong with that. While I can get the same effect with Walmart clothes vs. Janie and Jack clothes, I'd buy the more expensive clothing for the same reason I wear a Rolex and not a Casio. Is it showy? Is it shallow? Sure. Is it my hard earned money, is it it my perrogative to feel a little bit better that my kid is a little more decently outfitted? Yep. Nothing wrong with either scenario. On a lesser level, people do what they can to make their kids look cute and that's the same thing really. It's extra and unneeded, but at the end of the day you feel a little more special about it.

Kids in their teens that have nice cars that mommy and daddy bought? Ok I admit at the time I was jealous, but Ginz has a point that a lot of them are nice kids who appreciated their fortune. Why hate if they got it? If and when I have kids ad I can afford to get them a beamer I'm sure I will. I find also that there's always something balancing the equation. Situation A is a kid who drives a beamer and he gets straight A's, does sports after school and stays off of drugs and stuff. Situation B is a kid who has a beamer and his parents don't give a shit about him and they buy him stuff so he won't hound them at work. It's seldom that I see a kid with nice shit that is a douche yet still has decent parents who take care of him.

Why would it make one feel better about themselves if they kid was wearing a $$$$$$$$$$$$$ outfit ? There IS something seriously wrong with you if your gaining pride from the LOGO on your kids back homie.

I don't see any place where I said logo. All I'm saying is that if I can afford to pay for my kid to dress nicer than the next kid then it will be done and I see nothing wrong with it. I will take pride in that.

And don't get me wrong, it's not "Hey I have more money than you" pride. It's "Hey, I'm a really good provider" pride.

You sure they arenot one and the same? And do you really want to start teaching Materialism to your kid from the cradle up ? Taking pride that your life is nicer cuz you can waste money on expensive shit seems retarded to me.

Materialism is something that will be in their lives no matter what. Everyone wants nicer shit. If you won the lottery, would you not buy a nicer car? Bigger house? Buy shit for your friends? I would teach my kid that if he/she worked hard to achieve their goals that all that nice shit people wish they had is actually within reach. It's not a waste if you use it and enjoy it.

Also, logos on complete crap I wouldn't buy. There's some tacky shit out there that has big name logos. Not my style. Now let's say there's a nice ass shirt and it happens to be in Banana Republic, yeah, I'll go buy it. Let's say the same shirt is in Walmart at a third the price. If it looked exactly the same, yeah, I'd skip Banana and buy it at Walmart although I can tell ya that rarely if ever happens. I'll buy a plainly colored polo type shirt from Walmart but that's as far as I go. Hell I still shop at the Gap from time to time.

Would you rather buy a BMW or a Hyundai and why?

They both get you from point A to point B in the same amount of time but one costs tens of thousands of dollars less than the other.

You buy the BMW because you can afford it and you take pride in driving it. It serves as a reminder that you are successful. And yes, if you make a lot of money it's ok if you spend it. What's the point of cheaping out on everything and letting your money pile up in the bank?

Darcler reminded me of a story.

My son was 2 years old, and we spent over $100 on one outfit. It was so cute. Nike teehirt. Nike shorts, socks, and a little pair of Nike canvas shoes. (Side note, kids shoes are almost just as expensive as adult shoes, but as said before, never skrimp on the shoes) We took our son to watch his dad play baseball for their work league. What was the first thing he did when we got their? Jumped with both feet into a mudpuddle, he saoked himself in mud. His Dad was laughing at him, so he just kept doing it. I got home, and tried everythingt o get that mud out, but nothing worked. That was $100 for an outfit that he wore one time.

I won't even get into the $2,000 we spent on him for his 2nd Christmas. Oy, I could kick myself when I loko back at all the money we have wasted on our kids.

You only have one outfit? :ugh:

Would I buy a BMW or a Hyundai....I'd go with the Hyundai. Why? Because the car IS going to get fucked up and I wont be as mad if it was a replaceable car.
