Narrock wrote:Gratz Kizzy. The Home Depot here in Folsom starts you off at $15 an hour if you have expertise in certain field. That's still not enough money though. They also discriminate against Seventh-Day Adventists. When I had my interview with the Home Depot here about a year ago, I told her that I don't work sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. The old bag's response to that was, "Well, this is retail, and in retail, you have to work on weekends." I could have sued them for that, but I like the Home Depot so I just let it slide and went to work someplace else.

That's not discrimination. That's you being a lazy ass and blaming it on Jesus.
prohibits employers from discriminating against individuals because of their religion in hiring, firing, and other terms and conditions of employment. Title VII covers employers with 15 or more employees, including state and local governments. It also applies to employment agencies and to labor organizations, as well as to the federal government.

so they should be forced to hire people to fill retail hours that won't work those hours?
how is that discrimination when you can't fill a simple qualification of "available to work xxx hours"

For the same reason black people of lesser qualifications get jobs etc. over other qualified individuals...it's bullshit.

You don't understand the U.S. definition of discrimination then. Are you really that much of a dumbass or are you just playing dumb?

Paul~ I was working at Outback while I Was living in PA, then I transferred when I moved back to Ohio. THen I quit and started back in the real estate business, and transferred down to TX with Century 21, well when I got here, they cut my pay from $15 an hour plus bonus to $7 an hour. I found another job and they pay very well. I already knew alot about Pergo and Paint and floor and wall tile, etc from when I was a manager at Home Depot about 5 years ago. So they hired me back, and I make really good money now.

That is asking alot for the old "discrimination" card isn't it? They are hiring retail people to work weekends, they aren't telling you no because of your beliefs, they are telling you no because of your schedule. That would be like me telling people we won't work on their furnace or A/C on the weekends because the techs may be in church, I hire people who are available 24 / 7 .

It's still discrimination by definition. It's exactly the same as not hiring someone based on their gender, race, color, creed, etc. etc. etc.

gidan wrote:I should sue target, They refused to hire me because I wasn't available on weekends. I can just say it was religious reasons. Hell I could make a full time job of it. Just apply to everyplace under the sun. If they hire me, then quit, if they dont sue.
