Bush authorized involuntary Marine recall

Bush has authorized the Marine Corps to recall 2,500 troops to active duty because there are not enough volunteers returning for duty in Afghanistan and Iraq. This recall is for 2,500, but there is no cap.

They will be recalling the marines in the Individual Ready Reserve first.

They can't call you back after you're out of your 2 years IRR status. There'd have to be a draft on the table first.

Of course with this administration... who knows. They're liable to call us back tomorrow with some over-night, fast food passed bill that gives him the power to do so.

But, techinically... no. Once you're two years of individual ready reserve status is up... you're done.

The man should be impeached and prosectuted to the fullest extent of the law for what he's done.

Things work differently for anyone who was an Officer. Even a year or two back, they were recalling retired officers back to active duty, even though they'd been out for years.
