Electronic Arts will put updatable advertising into games made for PCs and Xbox 360 consoles. These ads will be design by Massive Inc. and IGA Worldwide. These ads would be a mix of permanent "static" ad and "dynamic ads" that could be updated via Internet connections to the computers or Xbox 360 consoles.
"Dynamic advertising opportunities in top EA titles represents an unprecedented marketing opportunity for advertisers to target the youth demographic in the most engaging medium."
As if those fucking pigs aren't making enough money as it is...
The main reason why I stopped watching TV, reading magazines, etc is because of the constant stream of advertising. I guess I'll have to stop playing fucking video games now too.

TIVO for the win. I don't watch anything live, cept sports, and never watch commercials from shows.
As far as EA doing ads, well, they are not really a gamer company, but a buncha suits who have done to games what MS did to operating systems.
What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step. – C. S. Lewis
If it's done tastefully, I can see it being actually a positive thing for games. Would be cool in Madden to have beer ads or something on the sidelines. Would bring more realism to the game.
Now, on the other hand, if you're in some 9th century game and there's an ad for skittles...that could get a little weird.
The real question is will they let you button skip the ads. If they do then I'm ok with that. Hell I might even watch an ad or 2. Then again I'm in the ad business and assholes like me are the reason this is happening =P.

i THINK/hope that the ads will be more of the product placement variety
ie, when you're visiting the pimp daddy in GTA he'll have a bottle of crown royal on his desk, with an open can of Coke or whatnot
if it's some sort of intrusive popup shit, i'll be choked
