First Official Game of the Year

Wow talk about implosions.

For a while I was thinking maybe Jay had it right after all... the Dophlins looked pretty damn good till the end...

wtf... hey let's throw the red flag 40 feet BEHIND the ref hahaha

Seriously, talk about implosions... they had it if they would have kept up the intensity.

Did you all notice that Al kept saying Pittsburgh had "won 4 in regular season and 4 in post season" or was my imagination owning me?

The Steelers played a good game tonight.

Miami's protection schemes were terrible. Given this was their first game of the year, and everyonw knows Pitt will zone Blitz, I expected more from Miami.

Pitt played conservatively and let Miami give them the game. Typical Pitt ballgame.

This is a game Miami should've won, but they were outplanned by Dick LeBeau.

I made no such claim about the dolphins. That was Phlegm.

Willie Parker looked good. I'm thinking there's a 1400 yard season ahead of him.

It could have been alot worse for the Dolphins if Batch didnt fumbled on the 1 and Taylor hang on to that interception in the end zone.

I thought Miami needed to run the ball a bit more, even if nothing else than to force pittsburgh to commit to the run

It's hard to run the ball when you only average a little over 2 yards a carry.

Miami protection were fine until the fourth quarter when they had to pass. All but one of the Steelers' sacks were during the last three Miami drives.

No way Miami should have won this game. They couldn't run the ball at all. Batch fumbled at the one and Taylor dropped the interception interception in the end zone. The only thing the Dolphins had on the Steelers were the return game. The Steelers pretty much dominated this game.

There was a free guy heading for Culpepper on over half the passing plays. It's why so many of his passes one hopped it. Not sure how you can say the protection was good. The pass and run blocking was woeful for Miami. Ronnie Brown sucks at picking up LBs.

The Steelers did not dominate the game, IMO. It was 14-10 at halftime. Miami led in the second and third quarters. It was a tough game, that was decided by a few big plays and some critical mistakes.

Parker had about 30 carries for 115. 30+ of those were on one play. Without that one play, he averaged less than 3 yards a carry and had no scores.

I wasn't impressed with Culpepper. He played ok, but I expected more from him.

steelers were getting consistent pressure the whole game, not just the last couple of series

also running the ball isn't always about gaining 4-5 yards per carry

sometimes it's about forcing a defense to commit to the run and/or setting them up for playaction
