Favre should have retire. Plummer and Bledsoe might not be starting much longer. Baltimore looked really good. The AFC north may be the toughest division in the league. Buffalo choked big time against the New England.

My Saints dismantled the sad Cleveland Browns yesterday with a new coach, new QB, rookie OG, 7th round rookie #2 wideout (caught a TD btw), all new LB corp, and a rookie safety.

And of course, that other rookie, Reggie Bush (150ish total yards, with no long plays, longest was 18 yards). Id say thats a nice debut

Score was 19-14, but it wasnt that close. We need to get our redzone down a bit more, both of our FBs got hurt and left the game before halftime. We dominated them statistically. 5 sacks, 3 turnovers

Half of their rush yardage was their QB.

Who dat baby! The bandwagon has lots of room guys.

We beat Green Bay next week, and we go into Monday Night against the Falcons, first game back in the Superdome after the Katrina nightmare, 2-0. The Dome might collapse from the noise :hiphop:
You were right Tikker. We suck.

The 49ers lost, but they didn't embarass themselves. They gave away 14 points in the 1st quarter with 2 fumbles deep in their own end, and had 1 TD pass called back on a holding call, plus a missed chip-shot FG. They just needed a bit more to go right, and they could've had that one.

True, it was only against Arizona, but hey, the Cards are being picked as a dark horse by so many people that they can no longer claim dark horse status.

Alex Smith looked frighteningly close to being an actual QB; definitely leaps and bounds better than last year. Gore is a BIG upgrade from Barlow. Gore at least runs hard, Barlow always used to run like he was afraid of getting hurt. The injuries to the O-Line will definitely hurt, but beyond that, the offense is actually looking like a genuine NFL offense. The Defense, on the other hand, still needs at least a year of work. We need at least 1 more high end CB, and 1 top-end pass rusher, and then we can start thinking about actually going for a winning record.

Nobody is going to bench Bledsoe after one game... that's silly. He was bad but most of the Cowboy fans weren't all that pissed off about the game. Owens looked great, the coverage looked pretty good... Special teams wasn't the disaster that it was last year... Bledsoe simply had a bad game. Romo has the POTENTIAL of being a good replacement, but we aren't pulling that trigger anytime soon. 3 days ago, much of the national media was predicting SUPER BOWL, if not NFC Championship game for the boys, based on Bledsoe at the helm. Putting in a ROOKIE QB means - ALL BETS ARE OFF. To do that, you are basically 'giving up'. Everyone on the team truly believes that they 'can' go all the way, but switching to a rookie QB early on will completely crush that idea.

The fact that Terrell looked so good is the best news... he even made Bledsoe look better than his 'bad' day was by itself. Two of Drew's worst passes (way underthrown) were saved because T.O. drew interferance calls. Two other passes that Owens caught were horribly overthrown, but Owens saved it. Owen's TD was overthrown but he still pulled it down. That's 5 passes that could have gone against Drew if a lesser receiver had been there. I'm not saying that Keyshawn wouldn't have been able to do the same thing... but... man... Owens made it look freaking easy.

For the record, I'm as far 'off' the Owens bandwagon as one can be... But if it helps us win... go for it.

Elsewhere...

The Saints looked great. I was really happy for them.

Colts/Giants was ugly... and they really need to stop jerking off the Manning twins. I'm as big a Peyton fan as anyone outside Indy, he's the closest thing we have to the (my) heyday of the 90s QB glory-days. I'm just tired of seeing his little brother I guess. You'll never measure up! Your brother will always be better! Also, your dad hates you!

Believe me... I am sick of Manning Manning Manning too... but the media has to have their golden boy. Over all the Indy / Giants game was the best of the weekend - that is the most exciting - despite the non-stop knob slobbing of the Mannings. I still think that call was fucked up like a soup sandwich and the refs should be hunted down. And I'm not even a Giants fan.

Tiki Barber looked freakishly good again against the colts.

Bledsoe was brutal, as was plummer, but you won't see a qb change unless they go 0-5 or something gay

New way of scouting in the NFL:

cnnsi.com wrote:• That Patriots front office never misses a trick. New England signed ex-Buffalo receiver/return man Jonathan Smith at the end of the preseason, just a week before the Pats were to open up against the Bills. New England cut receiver Bam Childress, who had a pretty decent camp, to make room for Smith, and added Childress to the practice squad.

After debriefing Smith all week about the Bills and their new coaching staff's playbook, New England released him last Saturday night, hours before the Buffalo game. Not coincidentally, the Patriots elevated Childress from the practice squad and he was one of three receivers active against the Bills. Predictably, Buffalo's coaches and players weren't thrilled with New England's rather blatant "scouting'' maneuver.

But rest assured, the Patriots don't care. They'll take any advantage they can get.

they're not the only team that does that

I know the Ravens, Steelers, Titans and Jags all did that when they were in the same division
