Comp isn't running any games. halp

Post by Jei »

My computer isn't running any games. I just bought Titan Quest and heros of might and magic V, installed both, and when I click on the icon, nothing happens. I deleted the windows update KB917422, because I heard it may conflict with titan quest, and it didn't fix anything. So I put in Warcraft 3. That one doesn't work either. I have no idea what might be up. The CD rom recognizes it, can install it and everything, and when i go to click it, it just sits there.

specs -

windows xp
radeon 9800 pro
1gig of ram
2ghz processor

is there an earlier update or something that may conflict with games? I noticed that Warcraft 3 didn't work a few months back when I tried to put it in, but i just brushed it aside. I haven't bought a new game since then, so I thought it was just warcraft 3 and kept playing CS and things that were installed on my computer. I forgot that warcraft wasn't working, and didn't think that it meant that ALL games wouldn't work, so i bought TQ and heroes V.

it's pretty frustrating. anyways, any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance =]

oh yeah, i'll add this in too. while heroes and titan quest don't work, things already installed on my computer do work. world of warcraft, CS, dungeon siege 2 (although it's a cracked copy), ect.

Check your event viewer and let us know what errors are being listed. It’s probably Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer. You will want to look at the applications section.
For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill.

I went to the event viewer, and I couldn't find anything for starting the games. To be sure, I closed everything, clicked on a game, nothing happened, and then went into the event viewer, and still nothing was there. It doesn't give me an error or anything when I click a game, it just gives me a little hour glass for a second, and then that's it. the mouse pointer goes back to normal and nothing happens

Reinstall Direct X9.0c

THEN

Reinstall your video drivers, or find new ones.
