Garg, saying that people who choose not to follow a religion are therefore devoid of conscience IS pretty retarded. It follows no logical path, and indeed is nothing more than the base propaganda of the religious institutions who try and demonize anyone who doesn't follow their dogma as outsiders and evil people.

I have known any number of agnostics and athiests who were deeply conscientious people, and known any number of religous followers who were most assuredly NOT. Hell, I've known conscientious satanists.

There is *NO* link between conscience and religious, either inferential, causal, or whatever. That assertion has no basis in anything resembling fact, and nquoting religous tracts will not make it any more so. Frankly, I'm disappointed in you for not only making that assertion, but ridiculing those who would disagree with it.

generally, I am right...anbd as I said in another post, a conscience without a religious guide is harder to develop..did you read everything I posted or just what everyone else said?

.and it doesn't matter who wants to argue..I figured people were going to go nuts when I said that God is a myth...I honestly don't give a fuck. But I would rather post the facts and be hated than post a lie and run with the sheep.

where are your facts to back your statements up? esp the point where you say 'Generally I am right'.

As for rreligous guide I dont think this is true at all. If this were the case people like arlos would be out in the yard with a pair of boxer shorts shooting the neighborhood dogs with a potato gun.

I repeat:
And no, being overly religious does not make you smarter, college does. But yes, it gives you a conscience without question. I have a conscience which is self-made since the day my bible school teacher told me that Adam and Eve lived before the dinosaurs.

I don't impose my beliefs on you. I just think you're very retarded, or some wiring in your brain is frayed and corroded.

Well, I disagree with you, Garg. Being religious is not even remotely a guarantee of having a real concience, and being irreligious is by no means a guarantee that you will lack one.

BTW, Kahar, Spazz is right in one thing; I am most assuredly NOT an athiest or an agnostic. As I've said a few times, I'm Pagan, I just don't choose to discuss it very often, especially as the last time I did so, it took literally less than 60 seconds for one of the resident peanut gallery to post their first derogatory and insulting post about it.

I don't believe in Christianity, and I will *NEVER* support anyone injecting their religious beliefs into politics, not even other pagans, but at the same time, I am by no means anti-faith. Anti-dogma, maybe, as I believe everyone should learn to think for themselves, and not to blindly accept pre-digested stuff fed to you by a heirarchy, when it comes to something as personally meaningful as Faith.

Reading and studying the bible is not "blindly accepting pre-digested stuff." If you think that way about the bible, then you might as well think that way about all other books.

I'm not saying that, Mindia. Notice I didn't accuse you of doing that. But you must admit, there is a HUGE legion of people out there who never examine their faith, they just go to church every sunday because it is expected of them. They swallow whole what their priests/preachers/etc tell them, and accept it as the whole truth without ever bothering to examine it for themselves. I've known innumerable Christians of all denominations who do exactly that.

Again, was in no way attempting to say that that's what YOU were like, but you and I both know that there's millions of people out there that ARE like that. If you've done your own personal examination of the teachings, thought about them critically, and gone pat the surface readigns to try and understand what the teachings MEAN, then more power to you. While I may not in any way believe what you do, you'll never see me insulting that process.

BTW, Mindia, as we've discussed before, trying to get laws passed that follow Christian doctrine, which you've said multiple times you'd like to see happen, *IS* trying to force your beliefs on other people. I am not of your faith, and my right to not follow your faith is guaranteed by the constitution. Therefore, if you got laws passed that followed Christian doctrine, you would be forcing me to follow christian rules, even though I'm not christian.

I know what you mean about people going to church just because they were raised that way. That was me several years ago, then I left the church because of it and became an atheist *briefly.* I found atheism to be an empty shell of a life, and life had no purpose or meaning behind it. I came back to Christianity because it makes sense, and I feel it to my core.

America was founded on Christian principles. I do believe in separation of church and state, but having "In God We Trust" on our currency, or having the Ten Commandments up in Federal buildings, is not forcing anything down anybody's throat.
