I need to upgrade, but i am po

Post by jungilizt »

I am wanting to upgrade my computer. Right now i am running XP home edition on a motherboard with a 200/266 FSB(processor is a AMD athlon xp 2400, which the board wont even run at max), 1.5GB SDRam(i know i know i need DDR, had a motherboard that ran DRR, but it ran real real hot) This board is an MSI K7T Turbo2, KT133A chipset. I am running a Geforce2 Pro card on it and i would like to see EQ without everything tuned down and without all the lag on raids and such anymore. Problem is i really can not afford to pay too much for a new graphics card and motherboard. I am lookin at gettin the two for $150 tops. I want to keep my processor(AMD athlonxp 2400), I have one DDR 512MB 266FSB stick, think it would suffice until i can do better. I also have a Soundblaster Audigy Platinum card that i am keeping. I am wondering if it would be advisable to get a motherboard with onboard LAN, if not i have a NIC. So i am looking for something that i can also upgrade on later, maybe up to 3GB Ram, and 400FSB. Of course i want an 8x graphics slot, maybe 5 PCI slots at the most, 2 at the least(one slot for sound card, one for NIC) On the topic of graphics cards, the ATI 9800 is way too much money for me to dish out, was lookin at the 9600 or maybe something from Geforce along the same lines. I would think that compared to my Geforce2 one or the other would be a HUGE difference. Anyways, whoever takes the time to read this and respond intelligently i am very greatful, thanks for your time and see you on Norrath. :D
