Anyway I think ps3 will crash just because of the ghey blu-ray and if they are still registering the games with only one console (which means that you couldn't rent ps3 games) not to mention sony stock is falling like fucking crazy cause of there gay ass batteries they are blowing ass right now. Also about the wii being the only true next-gen console....um no next-gen consoles are almost always classified by the graphics when they do console comparisons among the "top contenders" the wii isn't even mentioned because it still will pretty much be current gen graphics. The graphics are the only reason that you really buy a new console. If you think gameplay makes next-gen console's then they could just come out with new NES games. Consult PSM, official xbox magazine, and EGM they all say the same thing. I dont know if the 360 will make it either though. But hey they got a good headstart this time around. They got a full year ahead of ps3. Their is also rumors of a portable xbox coming out. It's funny really because I remember people saying that they were gonna wait for the ps3 to come out shortly after the 360....bahahaha you bitchs get to wait the longest. Anyway i'll be buying the wii for zelda, and ps3 for mgs4.
Edit: <---Agree's with toss also n64 was a great console. Many fun times with zelda and starfox.
I know you're a clueless MS fanboi, but this is over the top
graphix are NOT the only way to define generations, and generally not the best way either
as for the bold, PS2 still outsells Xbox360 by a HUGE margin right now
the PS3 will absolutely destroy Xbox, and I think Wii will outsell the PS3
Anyway, if you don't want to deal with the new-style controller, you can still use traditional controllers. They are providing ports for those as well. Also, the graphics are much better than GC era. No, they are not PS3 / X360 level but they will definitely be an improvement over the GC.
FWIW, I like the N64. I thought quite a few games were really good with Zelda:OOT still being one of my all-time favorites. That being said, I would say that the original PlayStation was better just because it had so many more, great games.
When I got my PS2 I made sure to scoop up all the previous gen FF games since they were still compatible.
I am looking forward to using the Wii's ability to download and play old-school titles from previous gen Nintendo, Sega, etc.. Retro gaming at its finest!

God I knew this was gonna happen. I said that graphics make most next-gen consoles next-gen....because um ALL GAME MAGAZINES SAY SO. Pick up any magazine and look back to the reviews of the consoles and you will see that's how they classify next-gen. Yes their might be controller innovations etc, but that's not how I specifically classify them. Talk to the gaming industry.
Edit: Yeah I know that ps2 still outsells the 360 but the ps3 is gonna be priced significantly higher and both are still gonna have hi-def graphics. So it will depend on the consumer which he see's as a better bargain buy.
I did. Graphics were ground breaking. After finishing the game, going back to kill both weapons then finishing the game again I felt kinda jipped though compared to FF 3 for Super Nintendo.
Oh, I think Nintendo is gonna reclaim the throne. Despite N64 sucking cock and GC doing moderately well I think Wii is going to deliver like Super Nintendo did. Nintendo was never really unsuccessful like Sega was, and I think Sega failed with the Dreamcast because of the stigma of 32x and Sega CD despite having a great cheap system with great launch titles. Nintendo doesn't have that stigma and it helps that it won't be simple to burn Wii games. Looks like they are gonna launch like the Dreamcast, cept they'll do it right.

With a statement like that I question your judgement. You are truly the first "gamer" that I've ever heard say that. Or maybe your not a gamer? Either way it totally invalidates your opinion.

it's not always how they classify next gen~
look at it this way
there's 327574285709425742 PS2s out there, and probably 11 xbox's
are you going to spend $500 on an Xbox360, or $600 on a PS3 that'll play all the old titles you still have kicking around?

I still consider FF7 the single best game of all time. The characters, story development, and gameplay are unlike any I have ever seen. In my opinion it took all the best RPG's had to offer and combined it with the sickest magic system to date. Materia rocked hard. Not to mention Sephiroth is the baddest of the baddesses.
I personally feel the wii will rock it all, but just to play that game again I'll get a ps3.
24 million Xbox's have been sold since it's release. That's a significant market share and MS has already sold over 6 million 360's and that number will be closer to 10 million by the time the PS3 and Wii are released. Sony and Nintendo both have their work cut out for them if they are going to dominate anything.

Since the release of the Xbox 360, Microsoft has averaged 246,000 console sales each month in the US, while the PS2 has seen an average of 473,000 units
this is just USA numbers, if you include worldwide, it's slanted even more in favour of the PS2
Bullshit. Who the fuck wants to play PS1 and 2 games on a console that costs $600+? I don't think backwards compatibility plays in to the equation much. If so many people are still buying the PS2 even though they KNOW the PS3 is right around the corner, do you honestly think they are going to run out and buy another console that costs 5x as much as the PS2? I think Sony is fucked in the short term.... maybe in a year or two, they will start selling massive amounts of boxes but it will be a slow start.

the point is that you can now have the next gen system, sell/toss the old system, yet still be able to play all the old games
Ps1 had 2 launch titles and became the best selling system of all time. There was a statistic that 1 in every 4 people had a ps1. It also had a slow start.
