BitTorrent

Postby Naethyn » Mon Oct 16, 2006 5:01 pm

I've been using dc++ for a while now and as of late the hub list has gone to shit ect ect. I've seen a lot of talk on these forums bout bitTorrent. I read the how stuff works and it seems interesting. I'm wondering what clients you guys use and if you have any pointers / guides that would help my in my piracy.

Thanks!

uTorrent is what I use now

the real magic in torrents is finding the right trackers

basically, you want to find a place where the stuff you're interested in is being actively traded

go to the utorrent site, and read their documentation. it's actually pretty good and really explains stuff well. I was a complete n00b at this shit like a month ago, and now I can get everything I need done np

Find a good torrent site like isohunt of piratebay. If you're getting torrents that are seeded and people are downloading, your gold, if not, you wont be able to find anything.

IMO... btjunkie is the best search engine around... just use that site to find whatever you need amongst the hundreds of torrent sites on the net.

sites like mininova are ok too. it's nice because they list the more active stuff so that you can just browse for something

if you know exactly what you want, then isohunt, or btjunkie are better

I use Azureus because I'm not very technically inclined and it's easy to use. So far it works great for me.

all of the torrent clients are very similar

azureus has a lot of bloat in it

utorrent works exactly as well, but imo was quite a bit easier to get going

I'll give it a try. The thing I liked about Azureus is that it has a pretty good torrent management system. I can stop some, start others etc etc etc. My friend uses uTorrent too and he says it's best overall.

Great info. I'll def try the utorrent out tonight and read the docs. Last night doing a simple search I found Azureus. It seemed to work ok but I noticed it queues anything passed 2 downloads going. I tried to find a setting for max downloads but found nothing. Is this something inherit within bittorrent, azureus, or I'm just a retard that cant set it up right?

tard factor

that being said, I found azureus hard to navigate around in too

utorrent was 507093180931840931x easier for me to get up and going

ps, remember the main thing with torrents is SHARING

don't be a faggot and just leech. utorrent is nice cause it'll let you set up how much you want to share etc

(i leave it at 125% generally)

I try to seed at least as much as I download. (If I download 1 gig, I will let it seed until I upload at LEAST 1gig)

Dude, apparently my Azureus was set up wrong and I had no idea. I got utorrent and my DL speeds are like doubled. uTorrent is tits.

yeah

all the same stuff is in both, but for whatever reason, uTorrent just seems more intuitive
