Can we have just a little less of the focus of the games being on him acting like a 2 year old?

I'm hoping the Tigers win the series but man is that guy annoying.

What was the stuff he had on his hand last night? Is it dirt? All the stupid sport talk radio shows are going on and on about it.

He says its a clump of dirt, most people i would take them for their word. But i call bullshit on that. That is pinetar if i have ever seen it (im a pine tar freak in baseball, its all over my helmet and bat). Ive seen pitchers use it, i know what it looks like, and that my friends is a big glob of pinetar.

It increases the grip on your curvball and sliders to get more movement out of them. Usually its hidden alittle better than that. In between their legs, under their hats, backside of their gloves. I havnt seen that much pinetar on the hand before. However, he did pitch 7 amazing innings after he washed off the "dirt clump", so i will give him kudos for that.

But in his start against the yankees, shows a "dirt clump" in the same spot for that game, along with another picture of it in his A's start. I remember watching the game with some friends saying "jesus he needs to hide that pinetar on his palm alittle better". Pinetar is pretty easily distinguishable (did i ever butcher that word or what ha) , from dirt. Pitchers are fanatics about stuff on their hands while they are pitching. No way in the world he doesnt know that it was there, as he claims.

People could say it was pine tar, but the umps said it was dirt when they looked at it and talked to him. And the pitchers said the ball was not doing anything crazy like that. He pitched his worst inning in the first so w/e it was was really not helping him at all

Either ESPN or CNN, I forget which, had an article where they interviewed a major-league pitching coach about it. He was absolutely, 100% sure it was Pine Tar. He went on to say that likely the only reason he used it was because it was too cold for stuff like Suntan lotion, which is undetectable. He pointed out watch David Wells when he pitches. Every time he gets the ball, he rubs his hands over his forearms, that's to pick up a load of suntan lotion, etc.

If hitters are given tons of crap when they use corked bats, why do people look the other way about pitchers using spit, suntan lotion, sandpaper, pine tar, etc?

because every single pitcher does it

that's why LaRussa didn't freak out on the umps
cause he knew he pitchers were doing exactly the same thing

Seriously if you think that was dirt you bought their "excuse" hook line and sinker man. It was pine tar, 100% nothing else it could be. Its quite a mysterious that in the other 2 playoff games he pitch he had the same "clump of dirt" in the exact same spot. :mystery: That is all by accident....Right?

The hand on the left.......Kenny Rogers during Game 3 of the ALCS against the A's. The hand on the right is the "Dirtgate" photo. Tell me does that look like dirt to you...in the exact same place as the ALCS? It looks more like a shit smear than dirt. Notice the orangy hugh to where the "DIRT" /snicker is on the skin. Yeah thats what happens when pine tar comes in contact with the skin. You get that color.

Do you not know that Kenny Rogers has been in trouble for Doctoring the ball before? This is not new, and its not dirt. Here is what i want you to do...go out...grab some mud and try to recreate that spot with mud. Then throw acouple of baseballs with it. I gaurantee you will feel that much mud on your hand....its next to impossible not too. Second you will not be able to recreate the look of that with just mud...im sorry you cant. However i can grab some pinetar and smear it on my hand and boom..it will look exactly like that. In fact perhaps i will...to the digital camera!

Rogers is using his hand as the decoy. So he goes and washes it off if they request it...problem solved right?

What about the stuff he has on the underneath of his hat bill or the back of his hat that he's touching before every pitch? Ahhhh ha!

I dont think he uses it as a decoy, i just dont think anyone really noticed it. If you are caught having any "foreign substance" on the ball when you pitch you are imediatly ejected, and suspended for 10 games. I dont think you would want to use a decoy, because the umpires "SHOULD" have inspected it, and tossed him. To much of a risk to use as a decoy. But yes, im sure he has alittle something under his hat, under his mit, back of the mit, inbetween his legs etc. I know alot of pitchers that have done it, or do it.

If he had noticeable pine tar on his hand, how come the umps didn't throw Rogers out?

Who knows... what I do know is that I'm losing more and more respect for baseball over all. It started back with the whining about being tested for roids. Now we've got obvious cheating during the WS.

You're not the only one to lose interest Diek. The ratings for the games are the worst in a long time and next year the league agreed to let Fox increase the time between innings for more commercials.

I actually feel sorry for the Minor League'rs who are trying to make it. The Major League'rs are fucking the game up.

I started losing interest when they [the player's union and players] we're throwing tantrums about being tested for roids. My thought was... "hey mother fucker, you think that just because you can throw a ball at 99 miles an hour you're fucking better than the rest of us?" Hey... if I can get pissed at work and fired if I piss hot - they can be pissed too.

Now, with Kenny Roger's obvious cheating.... fuck it... I'm pretty much done with baseball.
