I try to do things the "right" way; wait my turn in line, get in the turn lane ahead of time instead of cutting off a line of cars, pay my bills on time, etc. and it feels like I constantly get shit on by people who want to take shortcuts and think they know better than everyone around them. "Nice guys finish last" is a very true statement. Not directed at Harrison, I wish him the best of luck if he can pull it off, more of a general mini rant. People are extremely selfish, and I'm tired of it. =(

2. Good luck getting accepted into a college with no standardized test scores and a GED. If you work hard and can pass entrance exams, maybe. Or spend a couple years at junior college.
3. "Your" engineering degree is going to be full of classes based on all that highschool math you conveniently declined to participate in. Math being progressive, good luck jumping into 101 without Trig or Highschool Calc. There's another year.
4. College while working? When you couldn't finish highschool? I know you think it'll be easy because it's you, but good luck with that. I don't think you have the fortitude to make class and your 8-10 hour day and pass classes you don't think you need(because there will be many.)

I know people like you man. You always have a way of making things better than they seem Harri. You think you've got the shortcut, everyone else is stupid, you'll come out on top. Problem is, you're full of shit. But if it makes you feel better about your life, I can't judge you.

It fucking burns my ass that you can drop out of high school, get your GED, and also get a free fucking ride to college, while I in comparison busted my ass throught out highschool, graduated, and am now paying out the ass for college and still busting my ass. i've done all my stuff the "right" way, too. i don't regret it but i really wish i didn't have so much debt to pay off. i also wish i got paid more so i wouldn't have to live in the ghetto and could afford to buy groceries after paying all my bills, but oh well.

I have not done anything the "right" way since grade school but I have no doubt that if I had, I would be in a better place financially than I am right now. Not that I have anything to complain about but I have made life harder for myself by not following the rules and sticking my middle finger in the face of authority the whole way. I have a decent career and $0 in school debt BUT if I were not so frickin' good looking, smart and charismatic and had not been interested in computers from a very young age, I am fairly certain I would be stuck in dead end jobs and hating life because I am still not disciplined enough to handle getting a degree. I have always had to mumble across that "education" part of my resume in job interviews.

That being said, I would not change much if I had it to do all over again. Make your own rules, buck the system and raise as much hell as possible without becoming a burden on your fellow man. Just make sure you are smart and influential enough to find a way out of the holes you dig for yourself along the way. That's the ticket.

So dropping out of high school my junior year, getting a full time job not even a week later(never had a job before then), moving out at the age of 18 into an apartment with three children under the age of three I just became responsible providing for(Rent, food, and utilities), and then moving out when she got on her feet and went so batshit insane I couldn't live there anymore, is the "easy way" you are implying?

I am not going to lie about my life since about January this year being "easy" at all for a few motnhs however. I honestly don't care what someone thinks about my self imposed vacation for a few months that I badly needed after 2002 through 2005.

So now I have to complete a semester or probably two or more at a shitty community college, obviously passing with perfect grades, then transfer to a real school to get the degree I am aiming for. All of this taking probably about 2 years longer than needed all while working full-time. Please tell me where this gets easy.

I am fucking insulted that you think skipping one year on the treadmill of public high school, is the "easy way" out. If anything, finishing high school and doing things traditionally is your glorious "easy way".
